It's the long awaited return of my meaningless multi-poll questionaries folks. I'm sure you've all waited this eagerly or something.
So how excited are you. Well?

Who’d want the season to end in October!?
Almost half a year with no F1?! Those days weren’t good were they? (I mean, they were…. But, sod the looooong off season)
well it would make the build up too the following season more interesting and more hype like it used too. Was much more interesting going into a new season after a long off season. Ending in December is dumb. The team personal get no break a few weeks off over xmas and the new year back in the factory in January then back on the road for testing and the first race at the start of March or late Feb. Also all the info we get online now the buzz is not there unlike in the past late 90's for me the pre season shows on ITV were good season build ups too see new cars livery's driver interviews etc
10 races 4 or 5 races or shite tracks Abu Dhabi, Qatar, LV zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz meaningless events on rubbish tracks

I remember when I was a teenager and F1 seasons were ending in October or early November and starting from mid to late March, I felt like the off season was too long by about 2-4 weeks.
And that's an opinion I stick to. I think going well into December may be a bit of an overkill but October is definetely too early to end the season for me. I think I like the idea that the end of F1 season should coincide with the beginning of the ski jumping season, which is usually around the 20th of November.

Unfortunately, the WDC is already over, so it is quite difficult to be excited.

I voted for September. I like the idea of things been a bit special and to have to wait for half a year for the next season seems like it would be good. Of course, it would be better if there were, say, 10 GP over 8 months.

Keen to see how VER responds if there is not the hoped for progress with updates. It would be good entaertainment to see him under pressure until the end.
I think Piastri, Hamilton and a bit of George will shine over the remainder of the season. Really hope Ferrari tune the bouncing out too.
Mid-March to mid-Nov for me. A good balance of anticipationa and giving the mechanics a bit of a break.

You still had testing and scoops with testing. Teams testing in different places, hard to compare laptimes and then the first race in Australia where you could see how everyone came out of the winter.

Moving Spa and Suzuka to the first half has really affected the arc of the season in my opinion. Not much to anticipate after the break; this used to be the dramatic climax of the year. At least the season is competitive.
And remember that this is just the "first" summer break, second 4 week gap comes after Singapore, before COTA...
The first leg of the season always seems to have the better events in general. Also, finishing off with 3 night races in a row... although at least with Melbourne opening the season next year, it's not gonna be 5 in a row...

From 2021 to 2022, we had 5 desert-night races in a row. It was nice to have cars running in daylight again back then. 2023-24 were 4 night races in a row (technically you could say Vegas lies in a desert as well).

Hard to be excited but thankful that there is more Racing happening with this dreary Summer finally ending. Not gonna bother with half of these circuits, as some of them I just cannot stand - this version of Mexico City, Baku, Yas Marina - but here's what I am going to bother with.
Good to be a general Motorsport follower, so that you can alternate between series depending on vibes, interest and various other reasons. I am really not enjoying these 2022 ground effect F1 cars, so I'm focused now on WEC/IMSA's golden age, Motos and other series. Mostly here to cheer for my main dudes Hamilton, Sainz and Piastri.

High. There'll be at least one race where he gets it done. Let's not forget he would have been on pole at Spa without the engine penalty, so Red Bull aren't that far away.

Do we know if they're going to repeat the thing at Qatar when they had mandatory pitstops and everyone was flat out and Logan Sargeant got ill?
I guess not, but I would love to see that again.

Well, if all drivers get ill.. would make for a fun Grand Prix. "Why did Piastri DNF? He spun out on the barf of Sainz."
Posted 21 August 2024 - 08:23
Mandated stint lenghts? Please no. It was one of the bleakest weekends to get your WDC. On a Saturday afternoon with the sprint.

Well, not Sargeant getting ill. But the maximum stint lengths made for an interesting dynamic! I guess they'll have changed the track or the tyres or both next time. Qatar is a fast track but not notably extreme.
The tyres weren't the issue - Pirelli had already objected to the kerb design. It was the fact that the kerbs were basically serrated knives that was the issue. I don't trust them to have fixed that.
That and the inhumane heat. That is supposedly solved by the movement of the date from October to late November.
I thought the mandated stint lengths made an interesting race because everyone could go flat knacker, but the sight of the drivers keeling over afterwards - I thought Oscar was going to faint on the podium - turns me off the idea somewhat, even if the race is a month later.

Monaco would be better suited to mandatory stint lengths to prevent 1 stop processions.

Pirelli will have a street tire next year iirc to make it not indestructible.
