Please excuse the self-advertisement here; I'm privileged to have been asked to present at the inaugural Silverstone Research Forum event in October; the subject for discussion will be "Women in Motorsport". I'll be talking about Lella Lombardi, famously the only woman to have finished in a points-scoring position in an F1 Grand Prix, but there was a lot more to her than that career-defining statistic.

It's a public event, but tickets are limited; if you're interested, you can buy them direct from the Silverstone Museum via this link - https://bookings.sil...=10228837878157

Good luck: hope it goes well. Wouldn't the life of Eliška Junková have been a bit more interesting or enlightening?

No-one these days seems worthy unless they have an association with bloody F1.

You've actually hit on my my main theme, there! That "career-defining statistic" of being "the only woman to have finished in a points-scoring position in an F1 Grand Prix" does Lella a huge disservice. By the time she reached F1, she had already won the Italian F850 Championship (1970) and the Kleber Escort Mexico Challenge (1973), against some good-quality opposition, with no quarter given. She went on to win three WSC races and claimed several ETCC Division 2 class wins. There was an awful lot more to Lella Lombardi than that half point in the 1975 Spanish GP.

Having spent the last couple of years assiduously researching her for her authorised biography (surprisingly, it's never been done before), I can honestly say her life and career are both interesting and enlightening!

I'm going to be presenting as well. Unfortunately, my name on the list is wrong.

I'm hoping to discuss some myths and legends about female drivers, and how they come about.

Looking forward to catching up with you on the day, R!

Two TNFers for the price of one; what's not to like?

We’re friends with Sabré Cook (and her Dad) if you’d ever like to dialog with her.
