OMG the race starts in 40 minutes how did I miss that

Leclerc on pole, Norris far down the order, Hamilton and both Alpines shunted to the back for various penalty related reasons. Here's the full grid courtesy of the beeb:

Hard to overtake, long straights, likelihood of safety car, plov.

Let's get going!

Lando's made up two places already I see. He was too pessimistic yesterday.

Well done Risil! Baku thanks you :)

I thought we had till 2pm! These races that are only slightly out of western Europe timezones are the hardest.

Crucial race for Williams, IMO. They have the opportunity to close the gap to Alpine today.

Colapinto is either going to score points or put it in the wall.

He was close a few times yesterday.

Lando starting 15th, will be interesting to see which of him and Lewis is best placed to get up through the field and hopefully score some good points. A very interesting grid today, what can Max take from the race? Could he extend that championship lead on a day like today or become caught up with the midfield starting chaos? He has Colapinto and Bearman lining up behind him, not a lot of experience firing these cars into a big stop on heavy tanks into T1. A big swing available in how the championship looks as we build towards the run-in.

It is gloriously early - and gives me a precious 2 hours extra sleep between it and the Indycar finale

Always a good plan to open the forum on race morning, just in case you have no idea when the race starts!

Now let's wait a year to see if this years anthem performance was as memorable as last years.

Somehow, someway. Hamilton and Russell will be next to each other by position by the end of the race... as is tradition.

Scootled in just in time after dinner with a friend. The 9pm start is most excellent.

Really don't like this track, but hoping for a great GP nonetheless.

Happy with either a Piastri or Leclerc win.

Piastri winning, LeClerc P2 and Perez & Norris finishing in front of VER would spice the WDC quite up, wouldn't it?

It's got the feel of one of those late 1990s CART street races where the race is terribly dull right up until everything happens

The street circuits are all starting to meld together for me... even the ones with something a bit different (the castle) like this one.

We should have a "guess the Liberty era street circuit" photo quiz
