I recall form my childhood Technic formula car where front suspension bent if you crashed it.
I had that one. And the cockpit was the perfect fit for the standard technic figures too.

High quality photos of the sets have been revealed. They'll be released on March 1st.
LEGO Speed Champions: Formula 1 sets revealed for March 2025!
Thoughts? Seeing some comments on X about how similar the sets look - which, while true, I suppose is entirely predictable given how similar modern F1 cars look to each other anyway.
Hopefully as the range develops, we might get some historic cars that are more technically interesting/different.

Hmm, strange. Well, they've also been posted to X:

I wonder how much it is in £ for me. No issues with Lego on my end

Interesting - is it just my eyes deceiving me, or are the models actually slightly different for some cars? (mostly the engine cover)
Posted 21 November 2024 - 22:32
They aren't deceiving you, they are most definitely different. The lego kits are good like that, there should be subtle differences in all of them.

The suitably moustachioed minifig is icing on the cake.

Kinda surprised LEGO got approval from most - if not all main - sponsors to put their names on the cars (Of course the series as a whole would have failed if they had had to "John Newtown" some cars).
REALLY surprised they're setting themselves up for the inevitable 'LEGO is selling energy drink adds to kids!!1!' online outcry.

That's why the Red Bull and VCARB are 18+ and the others are 10+

Yeah I think that’s roughly how it works. It’s why Codemasters don’t have to get the licence for every driver, team, circuit and sponsor for their games. They just have the all encompassing licence from F1.

Gone are the days of “Williams Driver number 1!”

I totally missed that .
Nevertheless they'll be on the same shelves so I think you underestimate the professionally outraged.
A grand total of 2 complainers got LEGO to pull the Bell Osprey Rescue Helicopter from the shelves over it's military connection (rumor has it LEGO didn't mind as that particular model chewed up it's gears, but I digress).

Lego should have a word how they allowed the Aston to be that green and knowing how popular these sets would be, how crap it looks. There were much better alternatives.
Rather disappointing the helmets are generic colours and teams too, there was a massive opportunity here.
A bit meh for me.
Posted 22 November 2024 - 17:03
Yeah, I am surprised they haven't done more with the minifigures yet - but maybe that's something further down the line.
Given how popular things like Funko Pops are among collectors, I can imagine a minifigure collection of F1 drivers - past and present - would be too. And there would be great scope for the 'mystery minifigure' thing if they did include famous historical drivers.
However, perhaps that's more complicated from a licensing point of view? I don't know.

I will get the Ferrari. I got the McLaren as a christmas present from my dad (I'm 30) and it was freaking awesome

Stroll's AM would be the easiest to build. No assembly required. Just leave it in pieces.

The more I think about this, the more excited I get. Having the entire grid in Lego is just screaming for a diorama.... I need to make space to start something now

The tires are different this year with the FW14, so an extra set for the MP4/4 should make it better. I've also found some 3D-files as last resort.

Was in B&M today (uk) They had some Lego F1 on sale
£19.99 for the Merc and the McLaren (smaller models but still very nice)

It looks like these are small creations. Not worth the money for me.

Speed Champions models are good fun. I have the Technic MCL-36 as well, which is amazing, but I wouldn't scoff at speed champion models. They look nice scattered around my collection of 1:18 die cast models. Some of the road cars look surprisingly accurate!
