A CGR vs McLaren title fight would be fun, just for the Chip on Zak hate. Having the team owners try to kill each other on the podium while the drivers watch with a few cervesas would be a fun twist on racing's normal patterns of behaviour.

Penske are going to have to be back on form in Long Beach if they want any chance of being in the title hunt. I'd like to see McLaren to be in the hunt: Lundgaard is doing a very good job so far in adjusting to a new team, so he could well be a contender as much as O'Ward is.

How often does Zak show up? He has a busy schedule of 24 F1 races to attend so he won't be at Indycar races every time.

I’d like to think this is sarcasm but it’s from the same bunch of people who couldn’t figure out Peacock was a good deal.Indycar fans. Doing their best.

8. Herta (-55) Superlicense goal? Need more points.
As long as he finishes 4th-5th every race, I'd be happy. :-)

The IndyCar Driver's Championship standings.
1. Palou (102) Well, he can't win them all. Can he?
2. O'Ward (-39) I think having Lundgaard pushing him will be good for both him and the team.
3. Dixon (-41) Quietly third.
4. Lundgaard (-42) Finally--a good car from one race to the next. Rahal loyalty be damned!
5. Rosenqvist (-46) Another good start to the season for MSR, now powered by CGR data-sharing.
6. Kirkwood (-48) The year for a championship run?
7. Newgarden (-49) Positions 2-7 all tightly bunched.
8. Herta (-55) Superlicense goal? Need more points.
9. Rossi (-59) ECR must be thrilled. Wonder how long it will last?
10. McLaughlin (-61) Getting all of your bad luck out of the way early is a time-tested approach. Providing the run of bad luck ends.
11. Ericsson (-65) Your witticism here ______________.
12. Rahal (-65) Take that!, Rahal Remonstrators!
At this rate, Cadillac shall be looking at Palou not at Herta.

The team have been docked points for a technical infringement on Herta’s car.

Herta himself hasn't lost the points, though. Not ideal, but it ultimately doesn't affect him. Andretti screwing up his race in St Pete, on the other hand...

Herta's best shot may be if the Red Bull house band needs a drummer.

Wait, you think they haven't been looking at him already?
They Have !!!
But would YOU want to leave a team that is killing it so hard (and getting the most out of you and the equipment and the strategy) ...that you cannot lose?
For a car propping up the gird for at least 2 seasons??

Q: Not sure if this was a FOX coverage thing or what. I noticed during Sunday’s race at Thermal that the track edge kept changing from light blue to red? Just curious as to what I was seeing. Thanks for any insight!
Hisham Bate, Indy
MP: The curb is painted different colors in different areas.
Sensational.
I feel like the value of a mailbag with an expert is in providing insight to how things work. Questions where the answer is shorter than the question shouldn’t even be considered.
Though I’m reminded of an add-on track for Grand Prix 2 I had where the kerbs were different colours depending on whether you ran the game in VGA or SVGA mode.

The DeFrancesco incident wasn't actually as bone headed as it seemed, in my opinion.
It's tight through there to form up in rows of 2. Both Scott and Dev came in there with way more speed than the rows ahead of them. McLaughlin pinched in a little more than the people ahead of him, DeFrancesco ran wider than those ahead of him (as a result of the additional approach speed and therefore the inability to drive over the large kerb as other ahead did).

I didn't think her performance was bad on its face? Finished 12th, not last among her teammates.

Yeah, it's a shame. I wonder if there's something more at play here.

Re: short answers in the mailbag.
We've noted that MP has a tendency to either be quite verbose, or quite the opposite. Being terse should not be construed as being rude, especially if done in circumstances like trying to watch a race at the same time.
Concur that if it is that brief an explanation, it's probably not a question worth replying to.
Although in this case, I think it might have been simply MP reacting to a jaw-dropping question (or scarier thought, multiple questions that were similar). We have seen some replies along those lines.

12th was pretty much last. Everyone behind her had some form of problem. Or was named Deegan.
She also crashed 20 min into the first practice of the season.

Ah, well, that explains it. A real shame. I don't know if Flörsch would have made it to the front with more time, but I have to presume this is the end of the road for her in single seaters, and that's a shame. Still, I think she could have a very good career in sports cars, so I hope she finds her way there.

If you read in context you’ll see ( or perhaps not) that your post intimated that she was let go due to her performance.
