Nice try, I happen to be reading the book and came across the passage.
Did you work within a specific historical time frame for legal cases and the research that went with them to back up your arguments?

As with most such questions, it depended.

Although the fact that you've made it that far, on what I assume is a reread, does you credit. I stopped about 50 pages short of that when I put it down 25 or so years ago, and it remains on my shelf, unrevisited, as a reminder that while it's a pity to know too little about your heroes, it's also possible to know too much.

Pollock's fine but, understanding that this is all a matter of taste, Rothko and Barnett Newman are where I draw the line.

One was well-advised to not ask my mother what she thought of LeRoy Neiman's work  :)  (as well as most "celebrities" who painted)

Me (on Neiman): "Well...I like his use of colors."   ;)

If I'm not totally wrong. A childhood friend of mine from Norway are doing that race!

They (his team) have struck a deal to bring a US driver from Trans Am to Sweden to at least do the season opener in V8 Thundercars there. That's a fun little crossover!

I lied when I said my previous post would be the last off-topic post.

So, the driver from the US who took the trip to Sweden to do a guest-weekend in V8 Thundercars is named Matthew Butson. He got a couple of top 10's, which was 2x 3rd positions in the jr.class. But as the races went on, and he got more used to the car, he ended up with the 4th fastest laptime in the last race. He might go back to Scandinavia for more races!

Now this is the last post about this - unless someone else decides to open the Trans-Am box again!

Creed. I was hoping it was some new startup, but alas, it really IS the band. :well:

Pity we can't get a Massive Attack or Chemical Brothers backed car.  And I mean, if Flav can make up with Chuck D, why not Bring tha Noise with a Public Enemy-themed Will Power entry?*

*Yes, I realize the level of cognitive dissonance required for a Public Enemy-sponsored Penske Indycar.

Chemical Brothers does the Michelin music backdrop, so that might not work. Although they use the same song for the EV Hummer by General Motors so maybe it would work after all.

Let's just say, in the gap before Indy 500 practice gives us something more useful to talk about, that while I try to withhold my natural skepticism about some group's bodies of work, to the extent I've ever wondered if a collection of artists are secretly laughing at us behind our backs, that group consists of a small but prominent number of abstract impressionists. YMMV.

I mean, the only positive is it's not Rascal Flatts. But, siriusly? :smoking:

Hey--I like RF with the understanding that it's not country music.

PS. I detest Jackson Pollock’s work.

I lean more towards Ralph Steadman and Escher.

Damn you FRozenqvist. Guess what I have in my earphones now...?

(The fact that I'm currently listening to a Creed album as I write this is proof that IndyCar sponsorship *does* work...  )

I think they really have to buffalo only the critics. See: "After The Fox", courtroom scene, film critic's reaction to the so-called film by "Federico Fabrizi" (Aldo Vanucci) entered as evidence supporting Vanucci's innocence - "She is the MASTERPIECE!" (breaks down in tears). According to an ex, an artist listed in Who's Who, based on her first-hand experience this scene has been performed with minor variations and varying levels of emotionalism since she was an undergrad at the Corcoran School of Art 50 years ago. Guessing it's been happening a lot longer and continues.

Isn't that funny....?
Back in 2009 I was asked by David Byrne to make the backdrop look like different Rothko painings for the middle segment of the show.
I did a lot of research for each song finding appropriate works for them. By the end of my trawl through his catalogue I was a huge fan !!

Here are a few for you to scoff at...(or just scroll past)
No. 14
A popular color combination
Abstract
No 73

Later on I found out that the backdrop treatments were actually his girlfriend Cindy Sherman's idea.
Now she's an interesting artist alright !!!

Hi All,

In regards to Palou's point lead  , let's say he wins the Indy 500 (double points?)  where else can  any other driver look to to make up points enough to challenge for the championship? Are there any other races  double point races?

Somehow  i'm believing Chip did the correct thing  shutting down the  NASCAR team to  (mainly) focus on his Indy car teams , at the same time Penske is buying the Speedway and Andretti was focusing on trying to get into Formula 1 . which to me has distracted their Indy car's performances  to Chip's advantage.

What teams out there are the best positioned  to challenge the Ganassi Juggernaut in  say the next 3 years?

Scott Dixon may retire to the point of only doin the 500 ( ala Helio)  , with hopefully better results.

While i enjoy the Star Wars previews for the races  , there may be truth in them  then we  know   ;) .

BTW  to Jim Thurman   , i did check Richard White's file at racing reference and his death date has NOT  been entered. Maybe in the off season i can focus on that better.

   Paul

Jp, to each their own.  Speaking of the Dark Side, the Menil Collection in Houston, an otherwise lovely little art museum, has a Rothko Chapel with several works hung for spiritual contemplation. I see only doom, but that's me.

Indy hasn't had double points at the 500 since 2022.

Siegel still sucks. After 5 races, the pattern at McLaren is:

Points
3rd Lundgaard, 150 points
4th O'Ward, 148 points
18th Siegel, 65 points, which is only 18 points above Schwartzman, whose car hasn't been working half the time (or was on fire).

Average finishing position:
6.4 Lundgaard
6.8 O'ward
17.2 Siegel

Interquartile Range
Lundgaard 3rd-8th
O'Ward 2nd-11th
Siegel 13th-20th

On another note, holy smosies, has Malukas made a huge mistake signing for Foyt!

And to think they got ride of Pourchaire for that guy.
