Old beach buggies were light and with fairly tall tyres rolled over the bumps as well as sand.

Why are adolescent males (of all ages) so beguiled by impractical ground clearance aka slammed "stance", painted-on tires that can't really do their job, and having ~zero available suspension travel? All three of these are stupid and miserable to live with, yet are universally obsessed over in the adolescent male (of all ages) demographic. Extra stupid-points for hitting the trifecta on a "dune buggy".
