Yeah, I think it was risky to run the soft when the temperatures are hottest.

Toyota are resembling their F1 effort somewhat, an underperforming behemoth.

Sutton or Ingram, whichever wins, I'm happy. Great to see them fight it out.

Who’d have thought? Ingram and pasties providing better results than works backing from Toyota.

It’s giving me Rouse/Soper vibes.

I hope we get more of the Ingram/Sutton rivalry this year. Their battles have been superb today.

That they were. Happy to see Chilton win another 3rd race but yes, Ingram and Sutton seem like a magnet for each other and I'm all here for it. Pretty fun day of Touring Car racing.

Donington looked splendid in spring sun.
BMW’s looked visibly slower than rest in fast corners, sure they’ll get some help at some point but it’ll probably be too late for Hill to defend his title.

I'm guessing it was the synthetic fuel.

Hill did have an air of resignation about him during the weekend, I think he knows that a title challenge is unlikely unless BMW pull a rabbit out of the hat for round two.

I feel like every race organiser who suggests tyre stacks at chicanes must be forced to watch the 1996 Italian Grand Prix.
Even Tim Harvey grudgingly admitted that they wouldn't be needed if drivers respect track limits. If you hit one, is is usually your own fault, so tough luck.
How is Rokit still able to fund sponsorship?
They must be coughing up the money as teams and race series seem to stick with them. Where it comes from is another question. ABK beer is one of their brands, although I have never seen it on sale anywhere (shades of a certain energy drink that shall not be mentioned)

It probably won't help with getting the car more up to speed that two of his three team mates don't have a great deal of experience either.
On the subject, it was odd to see Daryl Deleon running a car that didn't appear to have a single sponsor on it - presumably he must come from a fairly wealthy family, otherwise I'm not sure how he can fund a drive at WSR.

There's scope for a book on "hidden sponsorship in motor racing". Sometimes the visible sponsorship brings very little money, while other funding comes without decals. F1 examples would include that well-known pay driver Juan Manuel Fangio, whose government shipped boatloads of wheat to Italy to fund his Maserati drive. Then we had Zanardi (and others) paid for by Count Zanon, whoever he was. And the Williams team was once sponsored by Ward Tools, who had no decals on the car, but did invite business associates and potential customers to the pits. I once knew a Formula Ford driver who secured what was, for him, a major deal, only to find it cost him more to paint the car in their colour scheme, than they were paying him.

Then there's money-laundering....

A closer look at WSR's struggles at Donington.
In short, the BMW actually benefitted in weight-distribution terms from the hybrid system, as it has to be ballasted the most to meet the mininum permitted weight. The introduction of the hybrid system also saw the ballasting regulations changed to stipulate that all ballast must be placed in the cockpit (within the rollcage) for safety reasons, so the removal of the system is a double-whammy as the regulations haven't reverted accordingly: the ideal place for the ballast to go in the BMW would be in the boot. Hill qualifying 0.565 seconds slower than last year (the other frontrunners improved slightly, so it's not due to track conditions) with a lighter car illustrates these issues.
One thing the article doesn't mention but that I noticed is that DeLeon moved forward rapidly in the first half of races 1 and 2, but then faded badly towards the end of both. This is concerning as the RWD configuration is kinder on its tyres, assuming that it was tyre-wear related.
