At the moment i'm in my 3rd season with Sauber - Diniz is paying me 9 million a year for a seat but he refuses to do any testing because i made him number 2 (Wurz, my number 1, is leading the championship) - but we're having problems with our reliability. I have the whole design department working on that - in the meantime our pace is starting to look shabby - from four poles in the first four races, we qualified 15th and 16th at Silverstone -
Sound like fun? It is - this is a great management sim and very very addictive.

"Hey there, all you middle men
Throw away your fancy clothes
And while you're out there sittin' on a fence
So get off your ass and come down here
'Cause rock 'n' roll ain't no riddle man
To me it makes good, good sense"

From what I understand there are no plans to market it in the US so I ordered a copy from the UK. I couldn't believe it but my order arrived in 4 business days.
Unfortunately I couldn't run it because my "old" 24x CD-ROM had trouble reading the stupid copy protection on the CD. I picked up a new 50x CD-ROM and it worked fine. Anybody else notice a problem with the copy protection?
Love the game, especially the sounds as the cars go by the pits (where your virtual self is monitoring the race of course).
My only gripes with the game are:
(1) There are no intervals shown in the race status displays, only position. So it is hard to tell if your strategy is working at times.
(2) The rain effects are pathetic! The track visuals magically turns from clear to wet with no transition. Fortunately there is a "dry/wet" gauge to help you out.
(3) The game cannot autoswitch color depth so you have to run a desktop of 16bpp color.
Hope they patch some of this stuff up.

There SO MUCH to do!
I'm 3 races into the season with Arrows and I managed to get a Ford customer engine for next year but Salo isn't happy because our reliablilty is so poor. He is in talks with Minardi for next season! (good luck mate)
Looks like Danka and Zepter are out for next season and Playlife won't sign with me because my team isn't good enough.
On the upside though, I managed to steal Lois Bigeos from Prost to design my cars for next year and John Barnard is sticking around.
I'm bringing Ford to Monaco this year as VIP guest and hopefully might swing a workd deal.
Gotta go, Ron Dennis is on the phone - something about planks..

I have now finally let go of Diniz (who won a race last season, GAWD!!!!!) and hired Hakkinen as 2nd driver.
The best news of all is that Schumacher priced himself out of the market for two seasons and finally found a drive with the Tyrell team who have gone on to not qualify in two races :-)))))) Oh and David Coulthard retired from the sport. All this happens in 2002 ... so stay tuned!!!!!!
Oh and we have Head and Newey on board now so this season we shall romp to yet another great truimph!!!!

BTW, as the seasons go by do new drivers appear and get better?
I noticed Montoya is available but he has such a low rating that he isn't worth bothering with. Will he suddenly get better?
I haven't found any GPW website anywhere either, do you know of any?

but yes the drivers will either get better or worse in their different departments.
Alesi is damn good in the wet and is even better now. The more they win, the better they get. Ol Wurz is as good as me in gpl now :-)

And yes you DO get time gaps ... this is a great game, Franco, and very addictive. A year from now? Not sure - but much MUCH better than the original

You guys are making me jealous, lucky bastards. And to top it all off today is my birthday....I really want that game! Im still thinking it over. I have another question: Ive seen some screenshots and noticed that there is an overhead view of the track, yet you dont actually see the individual cars on it, they are just dots with numbers. Is that a problem for you guys are do the other cam windows make up for it? My old GP manager at least lets me see the cars overtaking each other, even if they do look like tiny cockroaches. Magnum is there a way to accelerate time via a slider like in GPM or do you have to sit and watch the whole damn 1.5 hour race live? Did any of you buy the game online, and if so where? Thanks and hope the link helps.

Slick graphics!!
Cool interface!!
Very in-depth!!
Subsequent impressions after 2 races:
The interface is very pretty but pig-slow
The graphics are very good but I want my GPM overhead circuit view back!! I hate these still-TV cams!
Its very indepth but theres a lot of mystery to the inner working of the game
Theyve taken away some cool stuff from GPM but put in some other new cool stuff, so i cant regard it as inferior to GPM.
Anyway….overall i dont think its that bad…i needs a couple of patches i think to fix a few problems. From what I hear Edcom (the developers) are making a patch and a FAQ with hints to help with some of the stuff. Ill be waiting. If the patch fixes the most blatant bugs then ill buy it, otherwise ill stick to driving and not managing F1.
Ps F1 sims uk made a season 2000 patch if anyones interested.

And I have to say that the more you play, the more addicting it is. But its too easy. Good game though, better than GPM2, Magnum you were right!!
