It seems as if it were only a quarter of a century ago that Bira Goren emailed me that the new site on the Atlas F1 Bulletin Board was, finally, ready to go.

While a few names had been tossed around for the new site, there were other issues that were more pressing to resolve at the time.

As The Editor of Atlas F1, Bira was The Boss and she decided that the new forum would be named The Nostalgia Forum.

End of Discussion.

And, so, to misquote one of The Poets, It has been a long, strange trip, yet here we are.

I missed the first decade or so but it’s been a lot of fun and I’ve made some good friends here. Happy silver anniversary.

As a bit of an old stager here I do want to blame you, Don, Dennis David (from whom the actual invitation came) and others for absorbing untold hours of my life...

It has been a joy, at times, to be contributing to the knowledge of people all around the world, an eye-opener on how much I could learn from this place.

Let's hope it simply keeps on going.

Happy Birthday TNF!!

It's been 22 years reading posts here. Met some great folks associated with TNF over the years. I was amazed that I could find folks that had the same interests as me. I was amazed that folks I read about and authors of the books I read posted here, I am grateful for some fascinating discussions over topics I had little to no knowledge of.

Long Live TNF

Happy Birthday!!!

It seems a long time ago, but I discovered this community in 2002 or 2003. I think by then, I was so overwhelmed that I got lost among so many things to ask and search about. It was like infinity to me. I think it still looks like infinity; I hope gradually it's my time to contribute with my findings.

I sold a lot of books I now greatly regret doing so but this site helps fill in a lot of the holes that created.

Godspeed to The Nostalgia Forum and all who make it great.

Happy Birthday TNF! I know I've certainly learned a lot and seen some terrific photos over the years. And of course, met so many people through it too. Long may it continue......

WE should have a "TNF Silver Trophy" for something ... outstanding?

Happy birthday and congrats to TNF and TNF'ers.

Cheers

It really is amazing so thank you to those who were in at the start and everyone else who has chipperd in since.  Keep it going.

I missed the first couple of years of TNF, but have since learned so much here - and met many people, either in person or online, that I now think of of friends.

This is such a marvellous source of knowledge and experience; and it seems - although not its original purpose - a sort-of special-interest social club which many hold dear!

I just checked and I joined in 2009.

I still visit most days and, when appropriate, contribute.

There is such a fantastic collection of wide ranging knowledge existing amongst the TNF community. I do visit a few Facebook motor sport sites, but often have to bite my lip with some of the ill informed "stuff" that is posted ... something that rarely happens on TNF.

Here's to the next 25 years.

Forza TNF!

Informative, investigative, historical, sometimes hysterical (but not often), frequently irreverent, but always polite and gentlemanly (especially the ladies amongst us).  Proof that social media doesn't HAVE to be toxic.   And I am in awe of the breadth and depth of knowledge of our sport shown by so many members, and I feel privileged to able to join the discourse.

Without TNF, I would never have known that I entered the RAC Rally back in the great days of British rallying.  It was identity theft before identity theft had been discovered!

I 'found' TNF in 2000 and have been visiting most days since then.

A big thank you the originators and also to all of the great members who have contributed (old & new) who keep the old girl running.

Looking forward to many more years  (and more Fluff  :p )...

Rob

As a 'mere' fan since 1966*, I have found this forum most enlightening - I check in almost every day and whilst my main passion is Grand Prix racing (even pre-F1) I love hearing the inside stories of major events from years ago. The fact that we can hear from respected journalists, engineers and even some former drivers and/or their families (genealogy is another passion of mine) is a source of wonder. Thank you all, and Happy Birthday TNF.

*My first grand prix was the British in 1966. I was one of at least two 7 year-olds being taken by their fathers to watch the race at Brands Hatch, from the South Bank. There was apparently another kid there at South Bank, same age, also taken by his dad. Some guy called Martin Brundle. Some of you may have heard of him  :drunk:

Ah! Memories. Tiny (a brand, not the size) computers, dial up modems. We'll soon need a Nostalgia Forum for The Nostalgia Forum!

Well, you didn't mention the skinny eighteen year old standing opposite you above what is now Clark Curve, also attending his first GP.

A sincere Happy Birthday to the misnamed forum.

Huge thanks to the intelligent and well-informed (with whom I have nothing in common) who keep me fascinated and part-educated. Additional huge thanks to those who have contributed outside the forum to this wonderful sport, by wielding steering wheel, spanner, or flag, or by wearing an arm band. Plus more thanks still to those special people who have poured words onto paper, which have kept me absorbed for decades, with only the occasional need to mutter 'Yes dear' during years of happy reading.

I started clicking a few 'likes', but then realised I would need to click everything on this thread !

So, quicker just to add my Best Wishes to everyone here (including the moderators !) on this milestone (or should that be kilometre post ?!), and, as others have said, remembering all those who can no longer contribute.

This makes me feel ancient. I wasn’t in at the start but joined in 2003. Many thanks to all forum members from whom I have learned so much. And a special thank you to the moderators for carrying out their thankless task.
