So, cars then?

Yes! Cars under 150 kg. Drivers at least 90 kg (including gear and supplementary ballast).

We can call them Kars. There would be almost total technological freedom. What can you do under 150 kg? It would be a great challenge. Certainly there is the chance to see Kars more capable than current Karts. Exciting to see and to drive, I think.

This sort of concept tried with tin-tops instead of karts in the BMW Procar series.

This ran as a support race to European F1 races with everyone racing an identical BMW M1 car. Current F1 drivers took part. The series lasted for two years with Niki Lauda winning the 1979 title and Nelson Piquet in 1980. The joke idea that less successful drivers might to well did actually happen. Hans-Joachim Stuck, who's best F1 championship placing was 11th in 1977 was 2nd and 3rd respectively in the two Procar championships.

This would be similar but see the previous answer. It might have a better fate than that.

First time in I don't know how long that I lure on this forum again...and it's a weird experience..... (see below the thoughts that had entered my head):

This is very strange:

- Somebody who opens a post about karting

- Somebody who links F1 to karting

The most peculiar thing about this, at least to me, is.... the poster isn't me:

It wasn't me who posted it.

Still don't get it, about karting? Here? (Thanks a lot to the person who opened a post about karting here by the way, appreciate it).

Greetings,
William

You seem to like the idea.

Tsunoda would win all the time, given his minuscule stature.

See above. Driver stature has little influence beyond some aero drag amount. Given the short straight in karting tracks and the possible higher power to weight ratios, I think it is not very important.

Surely an end of season Karting event would be good. Maybe on the day before the FIA Banquet.

Unlike the Race of Champions, limit it to current F1 drivers and some ex drivers as wildcards. It would compliment the Race if Champions which is dominated by rally drivers.

Yes, better not let the rally drivers in, lest they show up the "best drivers in the world"   ;)

What you say there is exactly why the drivers weight play such a big role–the weight primarily affects acceleration and since the kart itself is so light, the drivers weight have a much bigger influence on the power to weight ratio than a heavier vehicle.

I would prefer only current drivers.

Was that sarcastic?

I say that drivers weight plus their protective gear plus a ballast must be 90 kg as a minimum.

Semi-sarcastic.  I think Rovenpera might be better than several of the current F1 crew.

Max will beat the rally drivers in a KZ, I reckon.

When that RoC was a rally super special in Gran Canaria it wasn’t really a problem. Never seemed fair that they continued the super special stage format once it moved into a “not exclusively rally” format.

Still, was surprised to see a five event streak for F1 drivers from 2012 to 2018 inclusive. Grosjean in 2012, Vettel in 2015, Montoya in 2017 and Coulthard twice in 2014 and 2018.
