I think many, maybe most, of you have seen this interviews already, but I think it one of the best driver interviews I ever seen and Max is really open and give answers that goes beyond what we normally hear from drivers and some of it can be worthy of discussions, but hopefully those discussions don't have to revolve just around "I hate/love him".

I don't find the name of the interviewer, but he is really good.

From the description of the video:

Max Verstappen chats exclusively with Lawrence Barretto after securing his fourth consecutive drivers' title in Las Vegas.

Thanks for sharing.

Lawrence nailed those questions, and Max was open, humble, smart, and open-minded.

Lando said it right yesterday: Max dominates when he has the best car, and when he doesn't, he's still there.

Did they record that before the race? He seems way too sober… 😬

Very nice interview, he seemed like a person who knows his worth, but is down to earh and has common sense. Honestly I believe that personally Charles is most likeable, but I can't help but admire Max.

Yeah, it's a good interview. Max comes across as quite intelligent and considered in it. More so than when he's been involved in a clash with another driver!

I agree that Charles seems a nicer guy to be around, but I like that Max is pretty straight in his talking. One of the things that rubs me the wrong way about other drivers is that want to make these big statements and they just feel rather empty, like a shell to prevent things getting too close. And then there are the drivers that are just rather boring. Max is certainly not boring.

He isn't, he quite charismatic actually IMO. Then again, I have to say I like most contemporary drivers, this young generation, from Max and Charles to Lando and Oscar, they all seem good kids, deep down. I would say nicer people than the older gents like Lewis and Fernando, when they were their age. But maybe it's just me.

I find it interesting that he likes to get away and forget about F1 during time off. But instead he does sim racing. It's a little bit similar.

Without the travelling and press conferences though, he can sim from home.

Maybe this thread should be merged with this one: max-verstappen-four-time-f1-champion ?

Nah. Interesting stuff is much less likely to be found if you just lump all vaguely related things into one thread with 967 pages.

Nah, I don't believe Max's "true face" is what we see on track; I know that sounds weird, but just a testament to how he treated his significant other and kid tells me more about the kind of guy he really is.

Nice Words from Prost for Verstappen (but I’m sure it will rub many in the wrong way)

https://www.gpblog.c...s-vegas-gp.html

Max has a lot in common with Ayrton, especially at the start of their careers. Today, a little less so. He has his own way of being. He’s always gone his own way. And in his own way. That’s why, when you get to know him a bit, I find he’s close to Seb or to me. These are things I like about him. On the track, I find him very respectful,

What i find, is people judge way to much on their favourites, and let it cloud other judgements. But, I will say, Max has grown on me. I think he seems pretty decent. But, driven like any professional sportsman. I also think people like a feud. Max and Lando can crash, call each other names, be annoyed but still be friendly. That's a good thing.

It's all similar to cricket, I had an in built hatred of Aussie cricketers. Then when retired, Mcgrath and Ponting seen pretty decent as do many others.

Step kid, they seem to have a really nice bond from the few clips I’ve seen.

Not the only thing he stole from Daniil :rotfl:

I don’t understand why it’s annoying. It’s not surprising at all. Schumacher always came across an awesome guy off track, and certainly very intelligent as is Max. But it was the same Schumacher who we’ve seen do many unsporting and dirty things. The same guy who celebrated like he’d just done something awesome when he won the championship after he had first understeered off, then hit the wall, then after what should have been race ending mistakes instead of accepting the consequence of those mistakes, turned into Hill and only won the championship in that race because his action DNF’d his direct competitor. Some still argue that he didn’t do it on purpose. We’ll never know, but the pertinent point is him celebrating and saying that “It was a very great battle, between me and Damon”. No sorry for crashing him out making mistake after “mistake”. As I said, an intelligent seemingly mature, reasonable person outside the car. Inside the car, an incredibly talented, skilled, brave, and many times ******** driver.

3:35-3:45 - does anyone else find it weird to call each other "idiots" for no good reason in front of such a small kid? I would think it doesn't send the greatest example.

Ah the PC police arrived quickly. Why pose it as a question? You need moral support? Why not just say "I hate it when grown ups talk like that in front of kids"

Do you have kids?

You have no idea what they're able to pick up at kindergarten or when they hear parents talking.

Why not just say that? Because I don't hate it? There's a lot of room in between finding something weird and hating it, you know?

Funny how you complain about "PC police" and then try to shut down a genuine question, like if you were just the same but reversed. Projecting some beliefs onto me I don't actually hold atop of that.

I don't have kids. I'm aware kids are exposed to worse. I just wanted to confront my feelings with what other people think. Kids learn by example and using disrespectful words without a reason, even in a playful manner, is not what I would do personally but I'm not going to lecture other people about what they should do. I just wanted to confront my feeling against other people's opinions in a topic I'm not very knowledgeable or don't have strong opinions about just to broaden my horisons a bit.

For me it is okay to use such words. What terrifies me is the urge to ban words and cancel people for using them. That is my opinion.

No, I would even say it is good to educate the normal world. Nowadays the kids are being raised on a cloud and in an ideal world. When they are becoming adult they realize the world is different and hard sometimes.

Nothing wrong with this, but it shows your focus more on this topic then on the others. Can you explain?

I have a daughter who is a month younger than Max’s step kid and is also named Penelope (coincidence, I’m not the captain of the Danii Kvyat fan club even if we also have the same name).

For my wife and I, we know she’s going to hear bad language and unkind words in school, out in the world, with other parents, from us sometimes, but we still have a choice in how we frame it to her. We tell her saying things like idiot or stupid is unkind and shouldn’t be done, even playfully, because a 5 year old isn’t really capable of interpreting sarcasm in a nuanced way and we don’t want to normalize her using that language with her peers. We’re not going to blow up at her if she does, but we just remind her that there are rules in our house and she has to follow them. That said, every parent has different standards for what they say around their kids, no judgment passed on Max if they use “mean” words more frequently in front of their kid.

No, he stole Kvyat's.

Kvyat cheated on his pregnant girlfriend, who is now Max's girlfriend. So saying "stole" is pretty disingenuous.
