Lando Norris has been given a ten second stop/go penalty. Feel free to discuss that here.

Guess what, Brown (McLaren) was part of the Andretti Cadillac holding shell company. Can't wait to see the penalties for McLaren in the next race.

Ignored double waived yellow. They exist for a reason. Is it harsh, yes, but it's a safety risk.
Verstappen would have got 5 secs added at the end and you'd still have been livid.

I don’t think that’s in question, but the severity of punishment was way too harsh to say the least.

The first rule they teach you before you ever get in a kart is you slow for yellow flags.
16 drivers did, Norris didn’t.
McLaren fans can meltdown as long and hard as they like but it’s the most slam dunk penalty you’ll ever see.

that's how I felt as a Max fan in Mexico, but I would say two wrongs don't make a right.

FIA managed to punish 39 sec for what is enough to be repremanded!!!! now who will be gone from the FIA!
Reprimand for a double yellow?

A 5 second or even a 10 second penalty would have been a joke and would have set a dangerous precedent. They really need to be strict when it comes to safety.

Lando is robbed of winning, McLaren is robbed of championship. Red Bull should be investigated for what they have done behind the scenes.
They will win it still IMO

Alonso was once gifted a podium for the same infringement, crashing out, and ending the race, so…Reprimand for a double yellow?

Failing to slow under a double yellow has never been a reprimand.

He got away with it in Brazil at some point you need to get penalties for safety infringements.

Stop the BS, it's Lando mistake.
McLaren will still win, the gap is too big.

The breach is a slam dunk, the penalty seems incredibly harsh to me.

People can potentially get killed for speeding in a yellow flag.
Absolutely deserved, not the first time Norris endangered people either (Brazil formation lap).

I don't think it should be a reprimand only. They were racing closely and gaining 0.5 sec can be enough to get within DRS range. And that's only the sporting side of it, safety is actually more important..

Even if we accept it is a rule penalty, the punishment is exceptionally harsh in comparison with what we have seen over many years.
FIA Ferrari bias coming to the fore again, I’m afraid.
If it was a significant safety issue I am not sure how Verstappen being just 0.6s slower was much safer…

Very odd that after years of sometimes pointless five second penalties, those that are often nullified by pulling a small gap by the end of the race, the stewards suddenly remember they have more significant penalties in the box.
I would certainly feel a little miffed to suddenly get the proper treatment after the soft stewarding of the past few years.

Were the other instances punished like this too?

The care so much about safety they left an object made of glass on the racing line for an age and didn’t send a Marshall to do anything about it.
All about helping Ferrari nothing about safety.

Unbelievably harsh penalty for Lando...I can't even remember the last time anyone was given a stop-go...or indeed at drive-through like Lewis had

Clearly didn't lift, and fully deserves the penalty.

I mean yeah they probably could’ve given only a drive through but it was a pretty egregious breach of the rules with zero mitigation so throwing the book at him is fair enough.

Stop/Go for 10 seconds? I can't recall seeing that. Very harsh.

I wouldn't mind this being a stop-and-go penalty if this was agreed in advance and applied consistently. Drivers need to lift for the yellows – it's as simple as that – but enforcement cannot be made more lax or severe on the spot.
The stewarding right now is bringing the sport into disrepute.

Penalty was justified. Only 10 seconds stop and go seems way to harsh. No clue if there's a precedent for ignoring double yellow. Amzing he wasn't told to lift there.

F1 is run for the benefit of Ferrari above all others it’s literally written in to the Concorde agreement.
Horrible when they make it this obvious though.

As above, they probably could’ve ’let him off’ with only a drive through, but he saw the yellow flag all the way down the straight and didnt lift at all….zero mitigation so no issue with an example being made of him, especially as 16 other drivers obeyed the rules.
