Charles Leclerc and Lando Norris head to Abu Dhabi separated by a slim margin of 8 points. Who takes it? Can they tie? Who wins the countback if so?

I suspect Lando will take it, but it probably shouldn't be this close.

If Ferrari are very competitive then I think Leclerc will take it.

I hope he does as he has been great this season.

If Norris gets beaten, it's would be like the time Spurs finished third in a two-horse title race with Leicester...

There's a simultaneous fight for the WCC between their two teams that also shouldn't be this close. McLaren are in the stronger position in both, though, and will probably see it through.

Either Leclerc has to win in Abu Dhabi or Norris has to finish out of position for Leclerc to finish ahead of Norris in WDC, and the latter has only happened 2 times this year (Austria and today), so it's like 80-20 in favour of Norris IMO or even 85-15.

My gut feeling says, Charlie takes 2nd in WDC, McLaren the WCC  :drunk:  But my gut feeling is not trustworthy  :cat:

Poll should be extended to WCC too.

I think the leader of both will prevail, but I am not going to put my house on it, not after a race like today.

It should be Norris winning, but as the result dropped here it could be Ferrari WCC and Leclerc 2nd in WDC - That would leave for a long winter at McLaren HQ - As a Ferrari fan I naturally hope both Leclerc and Ferrari manage this.

Possibility of some strange championship standings.

WDC driving a car that finishes 3rd in the WCC.

WCC with drivers that finish no higher than 3rd in the WDC.

We had a few posters on here claiming that Norris was the faster driver over Verstappen. That looks a ridiculous assessment especially if Norris can’t even get 2nd in the WDC driving the fastest car for most GPs this year.

Off the top of my head, Keke won in 82 with Williams only getting 4th in the WCC. I assume this must be the lowest WCC finish for a WDC?

It could have been third if not for the DSQ of Keke in Brazil when finishing second with Renault being promoted to race winners.

In the final standings Williams had 58 points, Renault 62.  (take away that major point shift due to Brazil and, well)

With the DSQ still maintained, it still could have been 3rd if they had not that issue with filling the 2nd seat in the early races of the year (first Reutemann, then Mario, eventually Daly)

A stable line-up all season could have helped beating Renault.
