WHEN: This Saturday, December 7th
WHERE: In the streets of São Paulo, Brazil!

WHY: Gen 3 EVO debuts, the fastest accelerating FIA single seater. LIVE on free to air in UK, new drivers, new cars, plenty to be excited about!

GEN 3 EVO ERA KICKS OFF IN BRAZIL

While most of the others racing series around the world are entering winter break, Formula E is about to kick off its Season 11

And this is going to be a very special season, as we're going to witness the introduction of the GEN 3 EVO car, the fastest accelerating FIA single seater in the planet, covering 0-100 km/h in just 1.87 seconds.

And wich better country than Brazil to host the first round of a very exciting season?
In the heat and the colours of the Sambodromo of Sao Paulo, 22 amazing drivers are ready to start their quest to become the new FIA FORMULA E World Champion.

This is going to be the fastest, most exciting and dramatic Formula E season yet.

This is the start of the GEN 3 EVO era: welcome to Sao Paulo!

Muito bom!!

Gb27-ZDjbw-AQUS5-N.jpg

THE NEW CARS PROMISES EXCITEMENT!

Sleeker, more aggressive looking and, most important, faster.

The new GEN 3 EVO impressed since its presentation for the much "lighter" look compared to the heavy dorito triangle that was the  baseline GEN 3.

The activation of the front 50 kW motor for power makes this veichle an AWD beast, capable of accelerating in record breaking 1,87 sec 0-100 km/h.

The Hankook tyres got improved as well, with a 5-10% more grip available for the drivers to push the cars to their limits.

13c4.png

Base GEN 3 on the left, GEN 3 EVO on the right

JARAMA Pre-Season testing highlighted all the positive progression expected from the new cars, with the drivers having much more fun at the wheel of the GEN 3 EVOs.

Not only that: thanks to the increased power and grip from AWD, Attack Mode will become very relevant again in the races, as the drivers who takes it will get at least a 2 seconds/lap pace improvement.

The All Wheel Drive will be available for use in Qualifying, Race Starts and Attack Mode, making these phases of the weekend super exciting.

In terms of overall pace, the GEN 3 EVO cars lapped fast in Jarama, and not far from powerful open wheelers veichles like the old Super League Formula

Gbs-X5-HW4-Ag-IFH.jpg

This new technical revolution is a bit of a jump in the unknown for everybody: there's lots of potential to be unlocked this season, and the teams are working day and night to discover the secrets of mastering the AWD traction.

How to get the best out of the new tyres, how to maximize the potential of the AWD power, how the race will unfold with these new tech...it's all a bit unknown and this makes it very exciting for us fans watching from home!

Even the pecking order is unclear: reigning champion Pascal Wehrlein's Porsche looked strong in Jarama testing, but Nissan is rumored to bring champ-winning car this season, and even Mahindra surprised everyone in private testing.

And we can't forget about PIT BOOST.
The fast charging technology that's going to be introduced in the Double Headers later in the season: a 30 seconds pit-stop that's going to recharge the car's batteries and allow for much different race strategies than we've used to see so far!

Fascinating!

SEASON 11 TEAMS AND DRIVERS

Lots of moves all around the field this year!

The biggest newelty of the season is for sure the arrival of LOLA-Yamaha as a fully entry, aquiring the previously existing ABT Team.
ERT turns into Cupra Kiro Race Co and will be powered by Porsche S10 powertrains

Here it is the changes on the drivers market.

  • Max Gunther joins DS Penske
  • Jake Hughes & Stoffel Vandoorne joins Maserati
  • Nico Muller joins Andretti
  • Taylor Barnard ® joins McLaren
  • Norman Nato joins Nissan
  • Zane Maloney ®  joins LOLA
  • David Beckmann ® joins Cupra Kiro Race Co

SAO PAULO'S STREET CIRCUIT

The perfect street track?

Usually, there are Carnival parades in the Sambodromo of Sao Paulo, but this time, it's going to be a motorsport race!

Sao Paulo street track is a fast, stop&go street circuit that uses the famous Sambodromo road as main straight.
A technical track, with fast sections splitted by hairpins and chicanes, a bit reminiscent of the Norisring

2.933 km fast, stop & go track, that will showcase the GEN 3 EVO acceleration potential, and with top speed exceeding the 280 km/h mark.
There are multiple overtaking zones around there, the stop & go nature of the track proved to be great for tight and spectacular racing over the years.

Fruko-ZRXw-AAMbux.png

For example, do you remember last year's final lap overtake by Sam Bird on Mitch Evans?

That was so epic that it left commentator Tom Brook voiceless for a week!

Really looking forward to FP1 today. Jarama was fun but I don't feel we got a real sense of how the new cars are going to behave on a 'normal' FE circuit.

How are you getting 7:30pm start for FP1? Showing as 8:00pm on FE website..

You're right, my bad!

FP1 tonight at 20.00 GMT indeed!

And it's going to be a 40 minutes long practice session. In fact, this season the practice sessions are going to last 10 minutes longer than previous seasons.
More track time, the better!

I think we can make some early conclusions. Lola Yamaha are genuinely competitive, which is incredibly impressive. And Attack Mode is firmly back on the menu, it's literally seconds a lap faster. The racing will be totally different.

I suppose we need to see how energy restricted they'll be, but I expect it to be different.

Attack Mode provides so much pace now, it's surely impossible to drop back into the pack, as we saw in the previous two years, and leave 20-30 seconds on the table.

The acceleration and pace difference would make any peloton racing way too dangerous.

It will definitely still exist at the faster more energy hungry circuits, but there were some races in the past where they limited the available energy, presumably in order to create peloton racing in lieu of a functioning Attack Mode. As Attack Mode will now work i'm hopeful they won't artificially limit energy any more.

Nissan showed the pre-season rumors could be true in this FP1, but we'll see tomorrow!

Lola showed flashes of impressive raw speed already but Digrassi got some traffic and cancelle laps.

Mahindra up there too with both drivers.

Are some of the big guns still sandbagging a bit?

Who knows, this could be a surprising looking pecking order, and i'm all for it!!

Can't wait for tomorrow big day of action!

Change to battery management software:

https://fenotebook.c...ace-complexity/

Could be a good thing if it means fewer penalties for tiny power spikes, although that seems to happen less these days anyway.

Aimed at preserving battery health through the season whilst also avoiding penalties, sounds like a double benefit
