Interesting to see Chunky's name in the listings.

Interesting to see Chunky's name in the listings.

This would be with LMU3 the Lotus Austin MkIII -  he won his race.  Note also a future World Champion lurking in the entry for sports cars.

I wonder what Lotus was Michael Allen driving - I thought LMU3 was the only MkIII completed in 1951. Or was this a speculative entry for a second car that never appeared?

The Robros was a trials car, widely campaigned in the south-west.

The product of H. E. Roberts and R. S. Roberts.

There were perhaps two — an 1,172 and a 999 c.c. (sometimes 993 c.c., 933 c.c.)

The car here is the short-wheelbase 999 c.c — thought to be HW 4655 (Bristol).

The car also appeared at Castle Combe, Wiltshire, 31 March 1951.

Also 1950: https://www.racingsp...ive/Robros.html

Gloucester Trial, 1951:

THE LADDER: H. E. Roberts Robros

hits the famous step on Nailsworth

Ladder. This hill was as easy as it has

ever been.

Registration HW 4655 (Bristol)

Although Michael Allen was listed in the entry it might have been Nigel Allen who drove in the first race for up to 1100cc sports cars. He finished in 5th place while ACBC drove in the 750cc race. In both races they would have used LMU3.  This would have been the first race meeting for the MKIII.

Lulsgate, Bristol Motor Cycle And Light Car Club, 16 April 1949

"H. E. Roberts' 847 c.c. Morris, after lying third for three laps,

was robbed of its place by J. Webber's M.G. on the fourth."

Could the Robros be derived from the Morris?

Car called a Fordmor at the Allen Trophy, Taunton M.C., in 1949.

Is the grille shell from a Morris?
