Liam Lawson – $21,869
Jack Doohan – $12,097
Kimi Antonelli – $12,097
Gabriel Bortoleto – $12,097

Another success ballast. I wonder if the team picks up the tab for these?

FIA pumping the price up too… ‘ the per-point fee will be €2313 ($2443), up from €2100 ($2217), and the standard fee €11453 ($12097), up from €10400 ($10981).

No wonder the FIA is keen to give points for all positions…

Not really success ballast is it? If anything you’re giving the best drivers an advantage by making their wallets lighter.

Ah so this explains Max throwing away some points in Abu Dhabi. He needs to afford babygros.

Never made sense to me why drivers need to pay for their Superlicense. And quite hefty fees as well. The sport should be rewarding the drivers - not taxing them jeez.

Where does the money go? Ben Sulayem's pocket?

Maybe Perez had the better strategy

Yeah, I can understand a nominal fee to cover things such as admin etc., which for this level of motorsport could easily be multiple thousands...but paying a million dollars for the licence is absolutely mental.

Why should you pay $2k if you score a point, finishing a couple of seconds ahead of someone not scoring anything, who has literally just run the same race?

And to the OP, yes I believe the teams do pay them (or a large chunk)...at least I remember reading that years ago.

The teams are minting money like there is no tomorrow.  The drivers and some key team personnel are on multi-million salaries.  The race tracks are being bled dry to fund Liberty/FOM massive profits.  So why shouldn't the FIA get a slice of the action?  The only people not making any money are the Poor Bloody Infantry - aka the marshals.
