@autosport

Former F1 team boss Eddie Jordan has revealed he is battling an "aggressive" form of cancer.

The 76 year old received the diagnosis earlier in the year.
Keep fighting Eddie ❤️

Yeah this is sad to hear, hope he recovers. One of the great characters of 'my era' of Formula One. Kinda transcended the sport with his media work like Top Gear too. All the best to him.

Awful news.

I can't say I'm massively surprised, he hasn't been looking well on his podcast with DC.

Autosport have an article on this with more detail.

Jordan said: “We’ve kind of alluded to it over the shows, way back in March and April, I was diagnosed with bladder and prostate cancer, and then it spread into the spine and the pelvis, so it was quite aggressive.
“We’ve all heard about our wonderful friend, Sir Chris Hoy, who’s an absolute megastar, and coming out and talking about illnesses such like what I’ve got, but he’s a far younger man.
But this is a little message, and everybody listen to this: Don’t waste or put it off. Go and get tested, because in life, you’ve got chances. And there is so much medical advice out there and so many things that you can do to extend your lifetime.

“Go and do it. Don’t be stupid. Don’t be shy. It’s not a shy thing. Look after your body, guys.”
Jordan admitted he had gone through difficult times since receiving his diagnosis. He added: “Some very dark days in there, but we pulled out of it, thankfully.”

All the very best to him and his family.

Stay strong Eddie. One of the few truly authentic people on the Paddock.

I hope he will be doing OK. And if he makes it, I hope he'll get good psychological care. Survivor's guilt can be a beast.

That's sad news.

His F1 team started the same year me and the mrs got together, so always had a soft spot for them.

Not just the team, but he and his family did a lot with providing lodging for up and coming drivers as well

His biography is well worth a read;

I'm sure he is getting the best treatment and from everything I've read, heard and seen he will probably end up getting the doctors to pay him for the privilege.

The last successful independent entry into the sport and a real character in a sea of corporate entities.

Best wishes EJ!

Wishing Eddie Jordan all the best, I hope he can beat this though it does sound like it's very aggressive.

On a personal note, I lost a friend to cancer aged just 29 a couple of months ago....another got the all clear after prostate cancer. But two of my cousins are likely terminally ill with various cancers. Every one of these people is under 60. Life can deal you a bad hand.

Haha! That would be very EJ.

A bit like the cancer thanking him for the experience, but leaving his body as well!

Sad news. I wish that his remaining days, no matter few or many, are full with love and joy. I will always treasure the memory of Damon's last wins and Heinz-Harald's surprising challenge for the WDC. I am happy that his legacy lives in Aston Martin. Thanks for everything, EJ!

It is a sad fact of modern life that most men die with prostate cancer, not many of it, owing to the advances in medical treatment we now live long enough to contract the diseases of old age! I have been rocking prostate cancer on and off for 13 years, chuck in lymphoma, treatment induced leukemia and a couple of heart attacks, yet here, at 80, I still am - so these things are quite survivable, prostate cancer being one of the most treatable of the cancers, so I wish Eddie well, I am sure that he is receiving the best possible treatment and will rise above it.

Fingers crossed for Eddie and a reminder for men, if needed, to get yourself checked annually.

If not manually... My PSA was 175 when they finally got round to checking it.

Only good thoughts to you, Eddie. Give it hell!

I took a photo of my wife with Eddie in the Paddock a few years ago. I'll see if I can find it. Very happy, friendly man on that day, as he's always seemed to me whenever I've seen him.

That bloke is crusty enough he’ll scare the cancer right out of him…

If it’s not too far along it’s a pretty good chance he can beat it as long as he’s healthy otherwise.

Sorry to hear this-  we need characters like him in F1.

When on a trip with my kids around 2000 we stopped by Silverstone and the Jordan factory hoping to see him but he wasn't in that day...  but did get to show the kids a real F1 car, and see some FF's running at the track across the street!

Sure hope some rad tx and chemo can give him relief and much more time!!

Good luck with It Eddie, cancer is a b****.

The bladder is a bad spot, lost a youngish friend with that.  Prostate, usually not, except sometimes when it is the nasty version, and providing it is picked up early.  Mine is the nasty one, and it wasn't picked up early enough to stop it getting out and metastasising, but early enough for the followups to knock it back, and I'll be under treatment for the rest of my life. I had been having annual checkups for years/decades, and even that wasn't enough to stop it getting out - but, if I hadn't I'd either be dead now, or well on the way.

Moral of the story - get your psa tested, catch it early, live longer/better.

The bladder is a bad spot, lost a youngish friend with that.

If we're doing personal anecdotes, my dad got bladder cancer in 1995. He waited until he couldn't go to the bathroom anymore before going to the doctor, and there were something like 20 growths. However, after the treatment he made a full recovery, and in fact I've just got back from visiting him and my mum today.

Get well soon Eddie!
