AH! How could I forget the bad shirts? You're absolutely right! I was sad this morning, but as I keep reading this thread, I'm smiling that so many of us are remembering him just out of sheer fondness. You know a human being has done well in their lives when they are remembered like this.

I remember actually liking one of the bad shirts so did some digging around and found it was from a company called Claudio Lugli.

The one I liked, and bought (black shirt covered in small skulls wearing crash helmets in different colours), they don't do now but this is an example of a racing themed shirt, they have a few on their site today.

They're often at Goodwood with occasional show offers.  Lovely shirts, but they do the Italian tailor thing of assuming every adult male is about 5'2" and six stone. so normal people need lots of Xs before the L...

A sad ending but what a life and career he had, the last true privateer in F1. Eddie didn’t pull his punches and I liked that about him, in a world where everything is either taken out of context or to heart, it was a welcome addition especially in the punditry world.

Cancer is truly vicious, I got to see it first hand 3 years ago with my mother and in just a few weeks, someone will deteriorate to the point you don’t even recognise them. At least Eddie passed on with his family around him and it sounds like he went peacefully, RIP EJ!

That's very touching. I know Eddie will be linked with Aston Martin as it's the latest iteration of his team but I wonder if any other teams are running tributes this weekend? He was such a character and still involved behind the scenes, such as in the Newey deal it would be great if the other teams paid tribute.

People often mention Jordan's performances in 1991/1998 and 1999. For me however, their 1993-1994 seasons were extremely underrated. RIP Eddie.

Damn, this one really stings :( Always living life to the fullest, even towards the end when the outlook was bleak. I think that's part of why it's so shocking. We knew he was ill but you'd never count a man like Eddie out and he didn't let it get him down. I've enjoyed listening to him and DC on the FFS podcast during the last year or so. There's plenty to be learned from his positive outlook on life. I think he mentioned in a recent episode about having the whole family down to Cape Town for a get together. I'm sure that will be a cherished memory and I'm glad he got to spend time with those he loved while he still could.

Jordan was iconic to any young lad growing up in Ireland in the 90s. The first F1 car I saw in person had that beautiful bright yellow B&H livery. In a shopping centre, I've got Navan in my head but it was probably Blancharstown. No idea what year it was or which car. Surely a show car but I remember putting my hand on the front tyre and thinking it was the coolest thing ever.

Eddie was making Netflix documentaries back when VHS was still on the go. I watched this one last year and really enjoyed it. Adrian Chiles and a camera crew follow him for a day in January 2003. It has a bit of everything, starting with breakfast in the Jordan house, a visit to the track to fire up the new car, a walkabout the factory and talks with agents/sponsors about who will end up in the second seat. There's lots of insights along the way about running the team and how he got to F1. And I don't know, it's also just nice to see the man sitting at the kitchen table having a cup of tea with his wife.

Here's the link (FYI: it's 50mins long with 18 mins of blank screen at the end):

Have a good rest, Eddie. You've certainly earned it.

Thanks for this! I heard chiles mention it on the radio and wasn't sure what to search for

Saw this earlier and it was touching, he was clearly reminiscing about the moments they shared and the wisdom Eddie gave him, I know Humphrey gets a bad rep for his time covering football but I liked when he was with BBC F1. I’m still waiting for Sky Sports F1 to have a lineup that compares to the beeb but that will probably never happen.

Very sad news. He was always a larger than life character. Vale, Eddie.
I was only just watching a doco on Tommy Byrne a couple of days ago, which Eddie was in.

Please get regular health checks, people. I lost a good mate two weeks ago to bowel cancer. It certainly makes things hit home.

1994 was amazing. Their consistency and high race positions with one of the least powerful engines (but very reliable) is still very difficult to understand.

Really happy and joyful memories.

I always wanted to meet him and give him a big hug, and tell him my mother loves him since the BBC broadcast days. I haven't told her the news and I won't, it will only upset her and she doesn't need to know.

Eddie, may you cause chaos up there like only you can.

For those of you in the UK, Channel 4 - whose production I believe is largely made up of BBC F1 alumni - just broadcast a beautiful tribute to Eddie, narrated by Bono. Well worth seeking out on 4OD (or whatever its called these days!) - highly recommended.

And in 1995, they had their best result in the '95 Canadian GP until they won in Spa '98.

I remember when he predicted Schumacher would return for Mercedes in 2010. A lot of people thought it was ridiculous. I seem to remember the Autosport website didn't even acknowledge the story.

A 1-2... if that had been a normal day on Jean Alesi's F1 career :-) I think he ran out of fuel on the cool down lap? It was that close.

They shouldn't have been THAT shocked, he had the sort of driving career for which most of us would commit serious crimes.  Points in British F3, a one-off in F2, a Le Mans 24 hours, and even a 3rd place in a World Sportscar Championship event.  He was handy.

To be fair, he used to have a column in F1 Racing Magazine around that time and he used to predict some very loopy stuff that of course never happened.

My biggest "TIL" with all the pieces and stories about Eddie Jordan, is that he wore a wig from 1976 and onwards.

Wait till you hear about Bernie.

Bernies hairpiece have been basically the same since I started watching F1, which at that age would be unlikely.

EJ even incorporated a widows peak/receding hairline

I own that shirt. My mother in law bought it for me and I wore it at my wedding reception.

Great minds et al.
