Aïe CARAMBA! Mexiiiiiiicooooo!!
It's time for the second race of the new Formula E Season, and what a better place than Mexico City to kick off 2025 with another banger of a race.
Sao Paulo had it all: big battles, Safety Cars, drama, huge crashes and a battle for the win till the last lap.
Gen 3 EVO debuted with a bang in the streets of Brazil, showing nearly 3 seconds/lap pace improvement, faster racing and a working Attack Mode, wich changed the race dynamics completely, making it lively from start to finish!
Missed Sao Paulo? No worries, here it is a good 10 minutes highlights video!
And Pascal Wehrlein's HUGE crash! Thankfully he escaped relatively fine (concussion and bruised lung!)
Very little gaps between cars all around the field, this is going to be a very special season of Formula E racing, and we're ready for more.
This weekend, one of the most iconic tracks of the season is ready to host a race that could throw in more drama and curveballs into an already drama filled series!
Fast circuit, the Peraltada corner waiting to be tackled full speed by the Gen 3 EVOs, tyre management could be key, lots of ingredients.
Let's mix them all up, and let's take a look at the Mexican Circuit!
A 2.63 km long track, with a big variety of corners: the start of the lap is super fast, coming right out of the Peraltada and approaching the tricky Turn 1 at high speed.
The entry of the corner gets tighter as you approach it, leaving little margin for mistakes on the outside.
Turn 2 is a long radius right hander that leads into a tricky, curved braking zone of Turn 3, where Vandoorne slammed into the wall a few seasons ago.
The cars joins again the traditional track after the T4-T5-T6 technical complex, before approaching the traditional T9-T10-T11 chicane, a very good spot for overataking.
The most spectacular section for the fans at the track is the STADIUM, the iconic section where the cars drive around the huge grandstands, hearing the crowd cheer before attacking the Peraltada.
One of the most iconic corners in history, the Peraltada will split the man from the boys this year: higher entry speed due to GEN 3 EVO acceleration, higher apex speed due to new Hankook tyres, and a flat-out fast exit to complete the lap of Mexico City!
The track is almost identical to last year, the only change is a slightly slower Turn 1 entry, wich could improve overtaking.
The entire stadium section area got painted this year, it will look amazing on camera!
We talked about how different the GEN 3 EVO racing looked in Sao Paulo compared to the "traditional" Gen 3 we've seen last two years.
In fact, thanks to the new tyre compound and AWD, Attack Mode worked once again (maybe even too much!), making the races more dynamic and spectacular.
Here it is a very interesting insight of the new cars with Andrè Lotterer and James Rossiter!
Talking about tyre wear: it could be a new factor for Formula E in Mexico!
The new Hankook tyre compound is softer compared to last season, and could get deg through the race given the presence of long radius corners like the Peraltada and the Stadium complex sections.
How this could change the racing dynamics? E-Formula.new gives this interesting insight!
