Formula 1 is a sport for fully professional teams. A team that continues to field a driver like Stroll year after year, solely because he’s the owner’s son, cannot truly be considered a professional outfit no matter how much money they spend or how many high-profile technical hires they make

If the only one problem were Lance....

Alonso will retire some day. With these results it would be nearly impossible to hire a top driver.

At least, with this "tanking" , Newey will have a lot of time for wind tunnel. :rotfl:

This is going to be a long season as the car is flawed due to poor leadership by Dan Fallows, but don't think the whole organisation is "incompetent".

They have plenty of resources and a new factory, they just need time to put everything together and start operating at a top level.

2026 can still be their year.

In my opinion, it is not worthy to put some of 2026 resources to sort out current car just for the sake of becoming 5th or 6th instead of 8th or 9th.

It is better to forget 2025 season and put all the resources on 2026 car with Adrian Newey at the helm.

It worked for Honda/Brawn in 2008 I guess!

The important point is, do they actually understand why this car sucks? Otherwise they may well repeat the same errors next year (although hopefully Newey is now fully in charge at least).

Just thinking from a 1000ft view, when Lawrence Stroll took over the team were punching well above their weight on one of the smallest budgets. He's managed to spend more and do less simultaneously. They are now the Toyota of the 20's. Maybe his iron-fist style of management isn't working very well here? Just a thought.

I'm afraid there is no time and resource for that.

In my opinion, there are just too much variables to pinpoint the exact reason.

From 1000 ft. perspective, I think there is certainly something to that. Particularly when one considers all the organizational changes and having to "stand up" new facilities and infrastructure yet demanding race winning results now. In looking at one of their competitors in Haas, One of the benefits for Haas is Komatsu's insistence in having his team "do the basics very, very, very well, and work as a team." It would seem that Aston Martin could benefit from that mindset right now. A legitimate question in my opinion might be if Stroll Sr. is getting in the way of his own success. We have certainly seen that before in other professional "sports" with different ownership groups.
