This touring idea grew out of a Facebook discussion amongst a bunch of us who worked on F1 teams back in the day, they're all people I know and the stories will be great, many of them quite funny but also very revealing. The plan is to do a number of these but if you're within reach of Redditch in Worcs then I highly recommend this.

There'll be stories but you can also ask questions and find out more about how F1 worked back then, leading of course to what we have today.

Full info can be found and tickets bought at this link - enjoy!

**I'm on the other side of the world & not making any money from this recommendation (at the ticket price my friends won't be making much either). Just recommending something that I think many will enjoy.

Looks like a great evening. Hopefully they'll be an event in the South.

I went to Redditch once.  It was shut.

I went past Redditch last year and they'd changed the road numbers.

"! once went to Philadelphia....but it was closed. W. C. Fields"

I actually once lived in Philadelphia...but it was still closed.

They intend to do more but I think they also want to see how this first one goes.

I spent a year in Redditch* once. It was a Tuesday.

Don't know what you guys have against Redditch but I seem to recall getting trapped on a ring road there...

Getting more local my 6x great grandfather was born in Beoley

Well, yes, I suppose it is.  Not everywhere in the Beautiful South is chocolate box pretty.  We have Luton. And Croydon.

I recall someone on this forum saying Mrs Thatcher was a southerner because she came from Grantham - which is roughly as as far north than Derby so we were not having that!

Don't forget that Redditch was also home from 1906 to Royal Enfield at premises at Hunt End.  I agree with the comments about its Ring Road, however, as it seems to go on forever without getting very far!

Best wishes to the organisers for a successful start to the intended tour.   Sounds like a great idea.

Agree. The idea of it came out of an online discussion about the different fusing methods we used to employ with acetylene "bombs" back in the day and wanting to share some of those stories. Should be irreverent, a bit of fun and at times some tragedy and pathos too - but then that's how it was.

Back to the OP rather than discussing the (lack) of delights of Redditch.

That looks interesting and not far from me, ticket booked.

This tour was Ed's idea. Knew him well back in the day and still good friends (even though we're on other sides of the world from each other). He's a good guy and tells a good yarn.
