Perfect moment to start this new thread, with the beautiful new yellow Ferrari helmet of Lewis Hamilton

When will the day come that drivers are saying to the respective teams; "fine that you want to plaster my helmet full with stickers, but those stickers will only be stuck on if they match the colors of my helmet!"

How fantastic would Hamiltons helmet look if all sponsors are in the same shade of yellow and red? Ditching any disruptive other color like the black, white and other shade of red from UniCredit?

That's a nice looking helmet. Nice colour yellow and it is nice to see mostly one colour.

Most helmet designs are awful

Still way too many unnecessary extra lines

It matches the broad pattern of the design that he has had for a long time though (since about 2013 when he moved to Mercedes and made the first major change to his helmet design) but it it is a lot more subtle with the lines. I agree that his helmets got messy in later years and I don't know why he kept changing colours in recent years but this one I feel is back to basics and looks great. It reminds me a bit of Vettel's simple design when he moved to Ferrari.

Definitely a winner for me 8.5 / 10. Enjoy it while it lasts because he will inevitably start messing with the design in the following seasons.

Still a total mess but at least it had less colours. For someone who prides himself on style, it’s a truly awful design to be sporting.

Rotten.

I like the color of his helmet a lot and it really fits with Ferrari. The design itself however is completely unremarkable though. I hoped he would bring back a bit more his first helmet which was much more recognisable. On the other hand, these lines won't be visible at all when in the car, so who cares?

Nice shade of yellow, but overall not that good. It reminds me Schumacher’s helmet, especially later ones, where it was only red with all kind of thin lines.

Still the best in recent times is Vettel’s.

I am no fan of swooshes and unnecessary detailing. But this is pretty clean in my opinion. It has the halo, which one can expect. It has the stars on the side, which is an integral part of Hamilton's design over the past years. There are a couple of other lines added, but otherwise it's clean as it can be.

Sometimes I really don't understand the criticism on clean designs like this one. A plain yellow and sponsor less helmet would have done it for you I guess.

Swoosh’s and fast lines ruin pretty much all modern helmets, I’m also a designer so I’m probably extra critical with it.

Keep the simple lines but remove the go-faster lines and you have a gem. His original design was really beautiful, but he has only had crap designs since around 2013.

I do hope Lando keeps last years design, it's a unique helmet, iconic.

Ya know what, that’s not bad. The softer lines are really nice and no (not that I can see) go faster lines.

Not sure about the font use for the number but this is a nice lid.

Yawn, generic racing game design with lines all over the place

Yep, another forgettable helmet there.

The lines just remind me of all the vinyl weeding leftovers from stencils thrown onto a canvas like some sort of deconstructed modern take on the London Underground map.

Horrible dated style, makes you wonder if the same 'designer' does everyone's helmets?

It looks like what you might get if you asked an AI to design an F1 helmet.

Last year he had a white rubber sealing off his visor. Visible when his visor was open. That at least did something in terms of making it stand out. This is just generic. Any kid on the karting track will sport this kind of design.

That’s awful. If you can’t afford a designer, just go with a solid colour… this is terrible

I assume the red blob with the green in the middle is supposed to look like the "A" of Antonelli?

Yep, AI can quickly throw together a helmet vastly superior.

Something like Vettel had at Ferrari, but with the Italian flag would be smart

He actually ran a version like that at Aston Martin, at the Monza race :

I used to wonder if all the lines and mess were mandated by sponsors or something like that cause I just don't get it. They look awful. What is wrong with solid colours? Hamilton's new helmet, which I like, is ruined by those pointless red stripes.

I rather liked Vettel's plain white helmet with the German stripe on it

I even like Stroll's helmet but I just listed the only three helmets I like from the three drivers I dislike. Odd, but here we are.

Agree, great colors, but the Spanish flag glitching out doesn't do anything good.  And as Beri also said, at least there aren't any of those asinine speed swooshes on there.

Hamilton's yellow works perfect with Ferrari red, but even more simple would have been perfect.

Came here just to say that. However, when looking back, I noticted that this impression is because of the same shade of blue in Alonso's 2018 helmet, which had a very different design than I tought.

conteudo22748.jpg

I feel like there's a version of previous Alonso's helmets which have a similar design to the current Sainz's one, albeit with a different color scheme.

Albon is "OK" indeed.  But how cool would it have been if he used Derek Warwick's old scheme, but with that flat pink instead of white

Nonetheless, nice colors and overall style without all those whoosh waaaash gibrish
