In the seventies, Detroit had its head up its buttocks but then Washington had stuffed itself in the same locaton all the way up to its waist.

 

Back when the Engine Masters series was still around, too bad Kasse did not see what he could have gotten out of an IH V-8.

Those Inter V8s were truck engines and very heavy. Everything was heavy cast iron. I have worked on one and owned another. With the weight it would never make a good performance engine.

Engine Masters was not about making a high performance engine, it was making any engine reach levels of exceptional  HP and Torque average with many limitations, on street gasoline, without use of after market whiz-bang parts.

 

Later years had a category for engines that were obsolete by the late fifties and had few, to no, performance performance parts; i.e. Nash V-8, Packhard, Ford MEL, early Ford Y-block, etc.,

Sadly Engine Master went belly-up, for all practical purposes, before this class could really get going.
