This is pretty typical stuff, choosing a C factor is always a bit of finger in the wind. We have little boxes for where we want the yaw gain at each speed, but as usual everything affects everything. He's definitely right about one thing, aluminum extrusion tools are an absolute bargain.

Flipping a rack is something I am familiar with. Many years go I was involved in building a speedway mini and wanted to convert to left-hand-drive. This offers a weight distribution advantage in a car that only turns left. The mini rack of course was unsuitable, so we went shopping for a rack from a RHD vehicle with rack ahead of the wheels. We ended up using the rack from a Holden Gemini.

A funny story. A workmate of mine was a CAMS scrutineer. On one occasion at Lakeside raceway north of Brisbane he had to scrutineer a freshly constructed special, at its first race appearance. Everything seemed fine - no slack in the steering - just happened to notice the wheels were turning in the opposite direction to the steering wheel. The guys that built it didn't notice till well into the build and figured it would be easier to learn a new way of steering than redo the steering gear from scratch. Needless to say it failed scrutineering.
