Oh good
I was expecting this in the games forums for days LOL, and it was here all the time.
The algorithm has changed this year for budget purposes. It would take the last 3 races ave, not sure. Here a excerpt from the F1 Fantasy Tools Discord:
Seen some comments say that the race 3 example is incorrect. It actually isn't, apart from how the numbers are rounded up/down. The algorithm really is this terrible.
This is the full clarification:
"There have been some further developments and a cleaner function was found so some thresholds have changed, but fundamentally you are correct.
The simplest way to put the latest clean version into words is: `price_change_metric of an asset = sum of their 3 latest scores divided by 3, divided their current price` -> (SUM / 3) / PRICE
This price_change_metric is then placed in the 0.2 < 0.3 < 0.4 range to get the actual price change for terrible, poor, good and great.
The first 2 races are different because they always divide by 3 instead of by 1 for the first race and 2 for the second. By dividing by 3 for those races, it’s as if they are including a race -1 and race 0 where all the assets scored 0.
To look at your PIA example:
0.4 = (SUM / 3) / 23
0.4*23 = SUM / 3
SUM = 0.4*23*3
SUM = 27.6
Since this sum can be earned over 3 races, PIA needs 9.2 points per race on average.
The reason why you get those comments is because they just can’t fathom that the algorithm would be so terrible - and we can’t blame them honestly. It’s the main reason we feel it’s likely it’ll be different on Sunday."
