Saddened to see this; back in the 1980s I used to be a semi-professional model maker and built three of Eddie's Camel's F3000 cars for him (one each for Eddie, Martin Donnelly and Jean Alesi IIRC). I was chuffed to bits when I later saw a photo of him at his desk with one of my models in pole position.
A true character and one who will be missed.

We will certainly miss his charismatic personality - and what he achieved through his energy, resilience and gift of the gab should not be underestimated because of the Oirish aspect.
I especially liked Jordan for giving de Cesaris a car in which he could once again be competitive. And there haven't been many F1 cars as achingly pretty as the 191 in its 7UP livery.
In these days of dour, corporate-calm F1 people, we have to wonder where are the scene's characters who will maintain Jordan's upbeat outlook on the sport?

I remember him racing at Oulton Park in 1974 in his Marlboro sponsored Formula Ford Crossle.

Also famed for his promo girls in the B&H days. Katy Price aka Jordan, Melinda Messenger and the third model who married John Major's son.

RIP Eddie Jordan and sincere condolences to his family and friends. I first became aware of Eddie through Autosport race reports in the late 70's when he was part of the Irish invasion of F3 in the UK. Recently, I really enjoyed his contribution and banter with David Coulthard on the Formula 1 podcast (Formula for Success)
Very entertaining and some of Eddie's stories were priceless...... he will be missed by many. Pic : Martin Brundle Jordan 196 AGP Melbourne 1996

My favourite Eddie Jordan story is that he obtained sponsorship from 7-Up and in return agreed to paint his cars green. He then approached Fuji Film and obtained sponsorship from them and in return agreed to paint his cars green. Having sold the green colour twice wasn't enough for him so he approached the Irish Tourist Board with a slightly different line, saying: "I'm Irish, the team car is green so how about some sponsorship?" It worked.
We have lost one of the sport's great characters.
RIP Eddie

I can remember him being interviewed after the first points finish (Canada 1991?) in that livery - he said something to the effect of (paraphrasing) "...a great day for our team and for our sponsors, 7up, Ireland, Fuji.." citing the sponsors whose green color he had sold thee times over - though he did NOT say that part out loud!
