The point is though that Red Bull don't really want someone who will really push Verstappen. They could have easily signed Sainz but gave Perez a ridiculous extension instead, and after getting rid of him decided to give the seat to a raw rookie with eleven races to his name.

Pretty sure team Verstappen would have veto'd that.

The relationship at STR back in 2015 was acrimonious, especially between the dads. As long as Verstappen is there, I doubt we will see Sainz Jr. in that team.

Yes I heard it was their camps that didn't get on that great, but the drivers seem to get on just fine.

And it's pretty pathetic if Verstappen can just veto any potential teammate. Particularly after Red Bull have had a string of flops.

Verstappen can’t veto any potential teammate.

Instead of Perez he preferred Hulkenberg, they signed Perez.

He wanted to keep Perez, instead of that they signed Lawson.

Now he disagrees with the team about switching Lawson for Tsunoda, but they still ignore him.

I really don’t know how you come to the conclusion that Verstappen has any influence on the choice of drivers other than your gut feeling.

It's a tough business and a tough decision but I don't think Red Bull owes Lawson anything.
I'd much rather see decisions being taken instead of no decisions (i.e. Ricciardo at McLaren, or keeping Russell in a Williams for three years)

Well in that case I guess Tsunoda has halfway through the first weekend to prove he's the business or else the F1 media circus is now ethically obliged to get to work on shifting him with the same zeal they piled onto Lawson with.

For his sake I hope he succeeds but getting the boot after two races (and with intense punditry speculation from FP2 in Australia) means this bar is now set stupidly high.

Imagine what all the other Brazilians could do. Probably beat Max.

Is there any actual point or rebuttal to the claims I wrote or just a silly attempt nationalistic bias Jab?  In your head I can´t comment on the fact that there are loads of prospects around, two of the most notorious being Brazilians, one being among the most impressive Jr career in history, getting a shot in the worse car of the grid by a good margin, the other not even a chance yet, Drugovich. In this context among others, where timing is the most important thing along with networking and plain fortune, I don´t feel specially sorry for Lawson, which in the Juniors was more like a dime of dozens, not very impressive.

If you have something to add about those factual observations, fine, if you feel I am just being biased I honestly don´t care about your personal opinion of me, keep it.

Lawson still is in the Red Bull program. It is not incorrect to assume that he earned his position. Lawson even made to driver Red Bull car. The result speaks itself that he was not ready, but this does not mean has does not have thing to trade with.

If Red Bull has no criteria in selecting the drivers in the program, completely arbitrary and wonky about arrogance, then he has no place. But when there is some other scale that Red Bull uses, then Red Bull must refine its system. which means to me, put Lawson back into the Racing Bull car and do something with him, Racing Bull is 2024 Red Bull anyways.
