These things tend to be pretty clear cut, don’t they?

Did they anticpate a SC with fuel?

Underweight is underweight.

Wasn't Russell disqualified after winning the Belgian gp last year for being underweight?

We again seem to have a situation where a one-stop strategy, that was decided during the race against expectations, has lead to underweight car(s). I know it's a highly competitive sport and margins are small, but it also seems that teams might be being just a bit too cute with the regs and how they run their races.

Hamilton too!

Fuel is irrelevant when calculating weight.O dear. We've seen last year where this will end.

Yes.
His situation was because there is no cooldown lap at Spa, so no opportunity to pick up rubber with the tyres.
Maybe Leclerc and Gasly didn't get enough tyre pick up.

So a DSQ for both cars then. Oh dear oh dear
#15
Posted 23 March 2025 - 10:55
Wow - well #44 has nothing to do with a one-stop strategy as it stopped twice.
Will be pretty amazing to have 3 cars DQ'ed at one race - can't remember that happening in recent times.

Hamilton too!
Do we know what the precedents are for this one? It's striking that this what the speculation was about last week when they changed the set-up.

I don’t know. Usually when a car is non-compliant with the regs, it’s a clear DSQ.

DQ for skid plank wear I believe - Hamilton and LeClerc dq'd from the US GP in 2023 for excessive wear.

Ah well if the ferraris are illegal then yea sure, Max had the 3rd fastest car then. I concede your honor.
Try not to make everything be about Max challenge (impossible)

@ChrisMedlandF1
Ferrari has already been to the stewards over Leclerc, currently Alpine's turn, and then Ferrari will be back over the Hamilton incident in around 15 minutes #F1 #ChineseGP

Ocon 5th, Antonelli 6th, Albon 7th, Bearman 8th, Stroll 9th, Sainz 10th.
Sainz first points for Williams too!
What a result this is for Haas

I am sorry but this is VERY funny
One potential DSQ is very funny, two in the same team is just tragic...

I’d bet Charles is underweight due to plank wear.

I wonder how much those planks weigh? He was a kilo underweight so that would be a lot of wear. Do they do the weighing first and then the plank measurement? In other words, does the fact that they didn't say Charles' plank was under the limit mean it wasn't? Or did they not even check it once they found the weight problem?

Well, the silver lining is that they can't disqualify him twice.

Why? If he had less downforce because of a damaged rear wing, there should be less wear, not more - He won;t be disqualified, which will piss of Russell ne end...

Wonder what’s the highest number of disqualifications a driver has had? Think this is Hamiltons third?
Montoya had three at least

Could well be Martin Brundle (7x) followed by Stefan Bellof (6x). Five of Martin's and all six DQ's of Stefan were as Tyrrell drivers in 1984- the famous ballast trick stuff. Could have been more for them if they had less DNFs that year....

BAR were also banned from a few races in 2005 (I think) over a technical infringement. McLaren were disqualified from a whole Constructors championship (drivers unaffected) and Michael Schumacher was disqualified from a Drivers championship but with the race results unaffected. Not the same as individual technical disqualifications, I know.
