I was doing some research about an article regarding canadian driver Peter Ryan and, clicking on the link on the website mentioned above, the news appeared that Forgotten F1 Drivers will cease to exist as of early April.

I think everyone here knows about the site (and some here have contributed with their own knowledge to it), and it's a shame that due to funding, this valuable resource will cease to exist in the next few days.

P.S.: I have no affiliation with the site, I was just shocked by the news.

Another useful source on the net is inoperative at the moment: DriverDataBase.
For several days now I get only a "403 Forbidden" message.

It would be a shame if that site has indeed vanished for good (or bad, in this case).

Works for me, Reinhard, although it seems a bit glitchy. Your link opened on the Chinese GP result, but none of the links from that page worked until after I had refreshed the page.

That is strange.

Using three different browsers I always get "403 Forbidden".

Have you cleared cache (or history)? I know it's like the old switch it off and on again "IT Crowd" solution, but there's a logic to why it sometimes works. If you have the page bookmarked, delete the bookmark and clear cache. Afterwards, try typing in the url rather than using a link.

The problem is likely to be a fault on their server, which misinterprets some element of your attempt to connect.

Using the browser where I had the site bookmarked I deleted the bookmark and cleared the cache. Of the other two browsers which I seldom use and where the site is not bookmarked I did not clear the caches.

Still I get "403 Forbidden" in all three cases.

I wrote the owner of www.f1forgottendrivers.com asking how much he needs to keep it going, he will let it live on the server and continue paying as long as he can, but there will be no further updates for now - We are all of different means, I have send him $200 today, whatever you guys can and want will be appreciated by Anton, who can hopefully keep this great resource alive.

Sadly this the way of websites. We lose huge amounts of content all the time, often without it being mentioned

Just for the record: I did, Richard, but it didn't change anything for me.

It would be nice if someone would contact the owner/s of the website and ask what can be done to get access again.

Here is their contact email address which, should (hopefully!) work for you. If it doesn't, do let us know.

I still mourn the loss of the Pacific F1 site.  That little Netscape 1.1 cobweb stayed around for over two decades after the team died...
