Hi all,
I am currently suffering from one of those brain-worm things, where you remember something but cannot find it, and then start wondering whether you imagined it...
I am re-bookcasing my collection of Autocourse annuals, and for some unfathomable reason I started thinking about an advert for one of the auto-supplier companies that appeared a few times back in the 1970s.
I think it must have been for AP or Lockheed or Lucas; or one of those companies that supplied all teams, and not contracted to specific ones.
Because the advert was a painting, (definitely a painting and not a photo), of ALL of the F1 World Champion Drivers to the date of the advert, standing in a large group, each with their helmet under their arm (I think). It was obviously a painting because some of the drivers involved were already deceased by the time the advert appeared, and I remember that the figure of James Hunt looked like it had been added to a pre-existing image. I remember he was depicted with the toes cut off his racing boots, as he famously wore them.
So it would have been 1976 or later for him to have been in the image.
I had thought that it was an advert in one of the Autocourse annuals, but I have leafed through all of my 1976-80 Autocourses, and I cannot find the damned advert!
Can anybody reassure me that this advert did appear at least once, and isn't a figment of my imagination? And if so, where must I have seen it?
I know it is a bit of a daft request, but my brain is hurting.
Cheers,
Robin
