It’s race day in Jeddah. Yesterday in qualifying Max Verstappen blew our collective hats off and will start from pole:
When is it on?
Tyre stuff

I predict a T1 clash between Russell and Max
Piastri vs. Russell is more likely to be tasty. T1 crashes rarely happen these days though.
Posted Yesterday, 12:33
This race does not have a tradition of the first 8 on the grid running into each other, nothing is ever a given but should expect a clean(ish) start with all falling into line for first 3 - 5 laps, then the various strategies and possible over takes can start happening.
Question for Verstappen will be can he keep Piastri behind on top-speed and not too much loss of speed as tires degrade.
Question for Piastri will be can he overtake through DRS overcoming the higher speed by Verstappen, can he overtake when his tires are less degraded than Verstappens.
In a race of no too big incidents I see the race being won by either of the front row starters, no one else.

I've been thinking that last week, we're overdue for some good starting drama.

I'm going for a George victory. Max will concentrate on Oscar and George passes them both.

A Russell win will make the championship more interesting.
A George-Max 1-2 would bunch things up greatly, even if one of the McLaren drivers still led overall.

What's the safety car average occurrence at this circuit?

I’ve been saying for years I’m tired of one-stop races. Hopefully we get fewer of them this year.Strange that Pirelli predicts one stop, yet everyone went into the trouble of saving two hards.

In four races there have been five safety cars and two red flags.

The F2 races weren't particularly amazing.
Stroll is surely the #1 candidate for SC to bunch up the field if it gets boring, but maybe we don't need it since the grid order is a bit jumbled up.
Posted Yesterday, 14:27
You go hard (hi George) so as to maximize your window of getting a free SC pit stop. In IndyCar we call this the “danger zone”; the rest of the field will be in it once they stop for softs.Norris to take the hard at the start and go long? Although getting the soft out the way may be preferential if you’re goal hanging for a safety car?

Why not between Sainz and Hamilton?

I guess it's mainly about being on the safe side in case of a safety car or even red flag. Usually Pirelli's predictions are more on the cautious side, so if even they predict a one-stopper, it could very well be possible to do the full race on one set.
Strategy wise, it could still turn out to be interesting at the front if there's a DRS train behind Verstappen, I guess. Won't be easy to cover multiple cars at once.

Interesting video, all pit to car for Verstappen, I like how he is told every single time to be attentive to weigh bridge, and how Verstappen asked 2 laps the second he is told of red flag.

I just cant understand why they always bring mega super ultra hard tyres everywhere

We went from ‘drivers need to do too much tyre management and can’t race flat out’ to ‘the tyres are too hard. Drivers can easily do a 1 stop and push all the way’. The talk about tyres always goes in circles.I just cant understand why they always bring mega super ultra hard tyres everywhere

These celebrity managers and handlers should all be briefed about talking to Martin on the grid or get the heck off. I don't need to hear from the celebrities but I absolutely abhor the disrespect.

They should always bring terribly fragile tyres and if you can tyre manage it, well done. But most people will 3 stops and push

It needs to be like Bahrain, where the Hard is durable but slow, so a faster strategy is to use softer compounds but with more pit stops.
I feel like they could make the tyres another step softer here. But also they could go for C5, C4 and C1.

I googled his name and I still don't know he is

Until everyone does 2 stops and drivers complain they have to manage the tyres too much. Drivers like harder tyres because they have to do little tyre management. But it makes races very boring. Especially at track with little overtaking opportunities like Japan. A very close field in terms of pace also makes overtaking more difficult. They should always bring terribly fragile tyres and if you can tyre manage it, well done. But most people will 3 stops and push

I only remember Kirk Douglas and Tony Curtis
edit: I IMDB'd the film and Janet Leigh was in it as well. I wonder if that is when she and Tony made Jamie Lee.
