Indy NXT qualifying results. Hauger takes another dominant pole. The two debutants were very impressive - however, Taylor beached himself in the gravel at the end of his group and lost his two best times. He'd been second to Hauger in his group.
Group B Group A 1. Hauger 1:12.7705 2. Collet 1:24.8394 3. Papasavvas +0.5964 4. Hughes +0.6043 5. Rowe +0.6672 6. Aron +0.7529 7. Pierson +0.7655 8. Roe +0.7531 9. Sceats +0.9262 10. Murray +0.8577 11. Koolen +1.1959 12. Smith +1.7039 13. De Alba +1.4224 14. Allaer +1.7856 15. Escotto +1.6917 16. Missig +2.1426 17. Taylor +4.2779 18. Hedge +2.4406 20. Miller excluded 19. It's nice to see Hauger doing well. Might actually end up with a Norwegian driver in the top level of an open wheeler series for the first time (Yes, Gil Andersen, polesitter(due to time of entry) in the 2nd ever Indy 500, and a participant of the first 6 Indy 500 was born in Norway, but by the time Indy 500 happened he was a US citizen and had changed his name to "Americanize it").
However, I am wondering about the level of the grid. Pierson, Koolen being where they are doesn't give "generational talents" vibe.

Hauger could walk away with this championship potentially, and without even needing to do too well at the ovals
But as you say, Koolen being midpack doesn't say much for the talent spread

Barber really is a proper circuit. Even the boring races here are tolerable because of the onboards.

So... What's the over/under of Dixon pitting in the opening laps?

Assuming no opening lap incidents, the soonest you can change out of a tire.

I'm not even surprised, he always said he doesn't like this track. For some reason it just doesn't suit him at all.

Maybe Scotty Mac can ace the start? Maybe?
Bummed about Dixon. He is doing un-Dixon things that are making a championship run a diminishing hope.

I don't get the feeling that's his objective... or at least, not this year.
It's Baby Borg 2.0 or nothing, IMHO.

I am beginning to think that he may well be past “it”. Palou is obviously a special talent—the WDC that F1 missed quite likely, just as Dixon was in his day—but Dixon’s highs are not what they were and the lows keep getting lower. He’d have taken 2023 if Palou weren’t in the field, but I think #7 isn’t going to happen without a lot of help.Palou on pole is to borrow an F1 term, ominous.

He may get another Baby Borg, though. If Helio could get one at 900 years old then there’s no reason Dixon can’t.
On the other hand, I’m in love with Palou’s Honda livery.
