Hi,
I'm building a detailed model of the Tyrrell 6 wheeler in its 1976 guise, using the Tamiya 1/12 scale kit as a basis. From helpful replies to an earlier post and from my own fairly extensive online searches, I've managed to gather quite a lot of information about the chassis. This was helped especially by photos of a replica under construction by CGA. In 2020 Hagerty published photos of this 'continuation car', for which CGA were able to obtain copies of the original engineering drawings from Ken's son, Bob. The article is titled 'The Epic Challenge of Building a Tyrrell P34 six-wheel F1 Continuation Car'. This lead to a USA version of the article with lots of additional photos of this chassis during construction. The MotorSport online collection also has some nice photos, including a few of mechanics at work on the car in the Tyrrell 'factory'. Unfortunately though the resolution and lighting does not always yield good detail.
I've very little information about the original rear sub-chassis (every photographer seems to have concentrated on those 4 front wheels), hanging off the DFV and I'd particularly love to get hold of details of the plumbing and wiring. In the past, when I've built a couple 1/12 models of Lotuses, I relied on comprehensive books about the cars as well as some excellent, detailed cutaway drawings which together with online sources yielded the sort of information I wanted. Perhaps CGA has pictures that include details of the plumbing and and wiring, so I wondered whether a reader knew how to contact someone from CGA who might be willing to assist me. I believe CGA Race Engineering was run by Colin Bennett and that the officers included other family members, but haven't been able to find any contact information. And if any readers know of other sources for details of the plumbing and wiring, especially how the wiring was routed, I would be very grateful...... Thank you, Mark.
