Finally! After some 30 years of Mickey Mouse tracks, starting with the Hungaroring, the House of the Mouse is officially on board the F1 train.  :rotfl:

Things like the Lego and Hot Wheels partnerships make perfect sense - but this I genuinely don't get what the connection is between them. I don't know much about Disney, but I don't see how this is a natural fit for either.

It seems like a lot of massive brands are cottoning on to how much of a money maker F1 is these days and wanting a piece of the action, but it's leading to some rather strange partnerships and I can't help feel that soon people are going to get a bit sick of the over commercialisation of the sport.

I wonder what old man Bernie would make to this sort of thing...

Didn't Bernie want to race in Disneyland?

The Disney deal may also expand beyond merchandise. Remember AppleTV wanting to stream F1 races? Imagine how easy it will be for Disney and F1 to do this on the Disney+ platform (who has twice the number of subscribers worldwide compared to AppleTV) when fans are accustomed to F1 and Disney together.

I think the original Mickey Mouse track was Le Mans Bugatti circuit, used only in 1967.

Money.  He would make money.  That was what he did. He would certainly not have given a second thought to history and legacy or good taste.

F1 was better under Bernie Ecclestone...

Yes, but that was DESPITE Bernie, not BECAUSE of him

Monaco is the original and current Mickey Mouse track as we will be witnessing again very shortly

Seeing stuff like this it’s easy to forget how F1 felt like a dying sport in not too distant memory…. Struggling to be relevant & teams struggling to survive

It’s now awash with sponsors and link-ups… nuts how things have turned around! Bernie was holding it back

Consider the fact GM CEO Mary Barra sits on Disney's board and at least one of Disney's cruise ships has a Cadillac Lounge   ;)

Will they be sponsoring the stewards room?

Many would say their recent decisions already take the mickey.
