[BAR up]

Today, I was back at the track, didn't have to sneak past the guards this time, I have a ticket. Walked from home to the gate, a beautiful morning, not much in the way of clouds. Walking through the gate, and the excitement builds. It's 930 am and the support catagory cars are roaring around Albert Park for the first time this millennium. Yeah.
Past the mechandising stands (what...no Honda?) and on to the Fangio stand, section K. There is Barrichello, in his Ferrari right in front of me, Hakkinen, with new haircut, one garage to the right. Schuey walking around head up high, giving short answers to fumbling reporters tripping over themselves trying to get to him.
Every now and then, an F1 engine fires up, too briefly, but enough to satisfy the ears. I cant wait, finding the support races way too boring compared to what I know lies ahead. 11am tomorrow. That's when I'll be satisfied.
3 laps of the McLaren 2 seater, my first taste of seeing the real sh*t. 30,000 people trackside, lots of short skirts, lots of die hard fans, me.
The Arrows car is Black with a big fat ass orange stripe runnig horizontally around it, like a bumble bee. Still unsure of decals. Tomorrow will tell.
I have been invited into the pits tomorrow by Ron Walker, the Victorian Events Co-ordinator, so I might have some cool stuff to tell you all tomorrow. Stay tuned. Until then....

Who has the first garage?

Ferrari, as WCC or McLaren as WDC?

I noticed last year that McLaren had a distinct advantage at several races as they had a straight run into their pit whereas Ferrari had to dodge in round McClaren's equipment.

From your comments, it sound like McLaren have the prime position...

I'm very sceptical that you know Ron or the fact that you will get anywhere near the pit/paddock, especially when you're only in a grandstand like the rest of us.

I can't believe how sceptical some of you are. Jealousy perhaps. Just to let you know, Ferrari have the first pit, as WCC. Ron Walkers phone number is 04183110** nah, never mind....I met him on an Ansett flight on the day the union sh*t went to the media, and I chatted with him for 10 mins about whether it would spoil the race. He offered me a tour of the pits. Every year he gives free tickets to us flight attenndants when he travels. You don't have to believe me Doohan, but I'll be in those pits, don't worry.
Peter...hope you saw the Arrows car today. Looks OK with the decals.

Don't worry about the doubters BAR up, keep up the local colour reports, good stuff. I can understand your colour dyslexia on the Arrows car report, I can't remember colours worth a darn either.
