Shame they got rid of ollie Gavin ,he was a joy to watch in that Merc.,drifting around the corners at Magnycours and the Nurburgring in the wet.Mabey someone should give him a proper drive,..well he's led Schumacher/Hakkinen often enough!

Oliver Gavin, wasn't he a top driver in F3000 a couple of years ago. Why didn't he get a drive after that? No backing?

Oliver Gavin did do some racing in F3000 last year for Edenbridge Racing. The guy is way too talented not to have an F3000 ride and should probably be an F1 test-driver. I don't know what happened to Gavin though, I mean, why it turned out like this.

Gavin has allways been very unluckly.
When he was british f3 champion in 95 ,his father paided for his son to race with hard up pacific team for the last race of the season ,only for them to go under shortly before the oz grand prix.
They never recover any of the money, they were well down the creditors list when the administrators took control of the teams assets.
