The sun is shining over Stockholm, and I've decided to celebrate this by starting a little competition. Here goes:

Where do you think that the 442 points that are up for grabs in the WDC this season will end up? Place 442 points or less (if you don't feel like maximizing your opportunities) in total among the drivers.

Scoring:
For each point over 442 that you distribute, you'll be penalized one point. You gain one point in the competition for each F1-championship point that you've placed right, which means:
-If a driver has a higher final WDC score than the amount of points you've placed on him, you'll get as many points from this driver as you've placed on him.
-If the driver scores less than you've trusted him to do, you'll only get as many points as he has managed to score.

An example:

Player A's and B's bets on Salo, Zonta and Button, and respective drivers final score in the WDC:

Salo:95 (WDC) A:100 B:90
Zonta:80 (runner-up) A:80 B:75
Button:70 (third) A:60 B:80

From these drivers, player A scores 95, 80 and 55 points respectively, whereas player B scores 90, 75 and 70 points respectively.

The competition is open for entries until around midnight thursday the 9th, CET.

Here is my prediction:

Mika Häkkinen 84 points
M Schumacher 80
Barrichello 52
Coulthard 48
Frentzen 42
Trulli 26
Irvine 21
Herbert 20
Fisichella 16
Salo 8
Wurz 8
Verstappen 8
Villeneuve 7
Diniz 7
R Schumacher 6
de la Rosa 4
Button 2
Alesi 1
Heidfeld 1
Zonta 1

Good luck! Remember not to overdistribute points!

Nik: probably because I'm an idiot... :) It should of course be 60 points! Well, I'm glad this competition has had such a great response! :)

Thanks, Pascal! This competition should really attract more people, i thought this BB was full of smart-ass know-it-alls! I simply don't believe there's just three of us! :) So come on folks, the way the tifosi have been confident lately there should be enough confidence to enter this competition! At the moment, I can guarantee all entrants a finish in the top five! :)

That's supposed to add up to 442, but it's pretty late now so I don't wonder if I made a mistake. I'll have to check it again tomorrow.

Wow, who'd have thought that making a list add up to 442 could be so hard? In any event, here are the 2000 final standings:

Mschu - 99
Mika H - 82
Rubens - 61
DC - 56
HHF - 40
Villeneuve- 24
Trulli - 17
Herbert - 14
Irvine - 13
RSchu - 12
Fisi - 6
Zonta - 4
Salo - 4
Wurz - 3
Gene - 2
Diniz - 1
Jos V - 1
Alesi - 1
Nick H - 1
de la Rosa- 1

Cool contest, weak prizes!!

Thanks for giving notice to me!

Please make the following ammendment to my list:

Button 0 (to replace Button 1)

That should solve my mathematical issues.

Thanks! Obviously the numbers were giving ME the headache!

;)

I'll be posting update threads after each GP, titled 'PTPC after ***' where *** stands for the most recent race. I have some fun stats to show after the first one.
