I have tried to install newly bought copy of GPL yesterday and had a strange message: "This is not a VALID CD. Please contact your vendor". The copy I use is 100% legal of course, so I am confused. Should I try to do something with my PC (like removing certain programs residing in memory or something else) before I contact the vendor and make myself look like an indiot who cannot install the game?

Anyone can help, please?

its possible its a cd drive problem.. though GPL isnt one of the games Ive heard of having troubles, its the copy protection throwing a wobbly.

try the latest version of directx (8.0a) that might help I guess. is your cd drive a plain vanilla type or a dvd or cd-writer?

Ill see if I can find anything on the specific issue in gpl

I tried both: regular CD drive and CD-writer. Same result. The drive itself seems to be OK. I installed Nascar 4 two weeks ago without any problems, it also plays the Audio-CD's without a problem.

I've had that same problem...

in my computer i have 2 cdrom drives, and the problem was that the GPL cd didn't like being in the "second" cdrom. I had to use the cdrom that was the first in line (in my computer that was the slave device on the primary HD controler). Don't really know why it wouldn't install on my other cdrom that is connected as slave to the secondary controller...

If you have failed to get you computer to recognize the cd in both youre cdroms, then i don't really have a good sugestion.

Thanks mahelgel, you were right. Appareantly i didn't try all CD drives. When I used the CD-writer the installation went with no problems.

Now the hardest part - driving lessons :)

with the driving lessons, i'm afraid i can't help you much ;) Just start with the default setup and go around very slow... then when you manage to go around slow for a couple of laps... change to 3rd gear.. :)

anyway, good thing you got the game installed..
