I ran across a beautiful model of a Jordan 191. Now thats what an F1 car should look like. I was just getting used to these high nose, narrow track, long wheelbase monstrosities. Please Max, give us back the wide track and slicks , and while you're at it ,also the metal undertray. At least then if the race turns into a parade the sparking would be more spectacular than sawdust.

I agree - but then, I think tthat the best looking F1 cars ever were produced in the sixties... The exquisite ferraris 156, 246, 312, - the lovely Loti - 25, 49, The Hondas - 272 and 273...

Not to turn this into a "beautful car" thread, I still believe that the Brabham BT52 by Gordon Murray has to be the most beautiful ever.

Ugly or otherwise, today's cars are the product of the science invested into the sport since the heady days of the 60's. Unfortunately, even regulations cannot "put the genie back in bottle." If not asthetically pretty, today's cars are gorgeous for their embodiment of state-of-the-art aerodyamics. Keep that in mind, and maybe you'll find Ferrari's "banana nose" a touch less offensive.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I myself am of the opinion that the current car shape is fairly attractive. However the paint schemes leave a lot to be desired!! They look very much like pre-school collage.

CC,
I agree about the paint. I think they close their eyes when they are doing that. I have see pre-schoolers paint better things. I hate the new shark Jordan.

To tell you the truth, this BT52 looks like a car from the 1960's, with a lack of sidepods and high wings. It just looks a little updated, and run on rocket fuel!!!

Did you know Gordon Murray put those sidepods way back there not only for aerodynamic efficiency, but to keep the weight at the rear since they suffered from severe wheelspin due to some type of suspension system Gordon created.

Well personally I watch F1 for the racing, Im not to wooried what the cars look like ;) anything that can perform like an F1 car must be considered function over form. To be honest I love em all, but I do prefer pre wing and sponsor cars.

uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

Does anyone care about SPEED? anymore?

Anyone notice that track records are being set in F1 right and left this year?

Or is it all about aesthetics and mandating an H pattern manual gearboxes so drivers will miss a shift?

I think the only people that care about how fast the cars go these days are the teams and the FIA.

Beauty is very subjective. I would nominate the 1983 Brabham for the ugliest car of the last 30 years. The absence of signigficant sidepods make it look very odd.

This place should be renamed F1 fishing.

The pathetic trolling is getting to the point where I don't even enjoy coming here anymore.

Well....he's been here since 2000....he's not exactly new to the forum. As far as what's rude and what isn't......I really don't care. I'll leave the judging and attacks to everyone else.:smoking:

I agree with Bruce on the subject of F1 beauty.
