Round 1 : Australian GP - Melbourne

After almost four F1 starved months the engines are about to rev for the season opener in Melbourne. In what looks to be one of the closest seasons for some time guessing the grid will be that much trickier. Welcome everyone to the Guess the Grid 2000 championship. I'm posting this thread just over 3 weeks before Round 1 in order to get as many participants as possible. Last years competition was fun and extremely close. In the end, MERLIN drove away with the championship. Could he make it back to back championships? We all have a chance to stop him, so here are the rules:

* Guess the top 10 QUALIFIERS for the race and NOT the race result.
* All guesses must be posted before Friday first practice of each Grand Prix. Any guesses posted after Friday first practice will render the post invalid.
* Your selections can be changed or edited anytime before Friday first practice. Any changes made after Friday first practice will render the post invalid.
* You cannot post more than one list (ie.) you cant hedge your bets by selecting a top 10 for dry weather and a top 10 "incase it rains". Just one top ten selection can be made. If you post another list at a later time, it will be counted as a replacement of your original guess list.
* Please keep the names as clear as possible to make things easier for Senna4ever to calculate the scores.
* If using initials please clarify who you are refering to in the following cases -
MS (Michael Schumacher) Vs MS (Mika Salo)
JV (Jaques Villenueve) Vs JV (Jos Verstappen)
If no distinctions are made then it will be assumed that MS means M Schumacher and JV means Villenueve.

If no distinction is made between the Schumacher brothers : (if both have been listed) - the higher one will be automatically recorded as Michael, not Ralf. If only one is listed will also be taken as being Michael.

Points will be allocated as follows:
3 points for guessing the correct position (ie. Selecting Hakkinen as 2 and he qualifies 2nd)
1 point for being one position away (ie. Selecting Trulli at 5 and he qualifies 4th or 6th)

The "Guess the Grid" thread will usually be posted atleast one weak before the next GP.
Senna4ever will post the results soon after qualifying in a separate results thread.

Were hoping this years championship will be even bigger than last years and everyone is invited to join in. Please remember that even if you miss out on placing your guesses for any particular round/s - dont give up because your chances of winning are still very good!

Good Luck and Enjoy!

Here are my predictions for Melbourne:

1. M Schumacher
2. Hakkinen
3. Barrichello
4. Coulthard
5. Frentzen
6. Trulli
7. Villenueve
8. Herbert
9. Fisichella
10. Irvine

gerry and Senna4ever terrific work you both did last season. Thanks for this year too!!
Last year I sucked for sentimental reasons (I kept putting Damon a little too high), but this year
I am lean and mean!

Hey ;)

okay here goes,

1) David Coulthard
2) Mika Hakkinen(misses pole by about a thousandth of a second)
3) Michael Scumacher
4) Rubens Barrichello
5) Heinz Harold Frentzen
6) Johnny Herbert
7) Jarno Trulli
8) Jaques Villeneuve
9) Ralf Schumacher
10) Giancarlo Fissichella

I'm not too sure about the McLarens :(
I think they will line up first and second, and be within one thousandth of a second of each other, or something rediculous like that
but i'm not too sure who will claim pole! They both always go so well in Australia ;)
