Hey,

You're all wondering about the most realistic racing simulator of all time, well, Jacques Villeneuve I feel must take the honors for this one! Oh no, actually strapping himself into a real live race car and feeling the ultimate and reallife racing experience, Jacques needs to have this!!!

Check out these specs! Anyone got 25,000 dollars?

Simulator ups Villeneuve's game
According to his fitness instructor [06/08/01 - 15:11]

Jacques Villeneuve / BAR

hen Jacques Villeneuve takes to his yacht moored in the Monte Carlo Harbour during the August break it will not be a time for relaxing and unwinding for the Canadian, but rather time to work on his fitness and prepare for the final five races of the 2001 season. The 30-year-old paid 25,000 pounds to have a Formula One simulator fitted in his luxury yacht that allows his to simulate race conditions and work on his fitness. The simulator, which was suggested by his fitness instructor Erwin Gollner has shown some reward as the BAR driver secured his second podium finish of the year at last weekend's German Grand Prix.

Gollner believes that by working with the simulator, which is an exact replica of the BAR's cockpit with seatbelts and a steering wheel, Villeneuve can improve his race fitness as it is fitted with weights and simulates G-force. The dummy cockpit is completely enclosed and using computers race conditions such as temperature and humidity can be matched. When using the simulator Villeneuve has to wear both his race suit and helmet in order to get the full effect, and even though he is on his yacht Gollner can keep track of his progress via the internet.

Gollner told The Sun: “He has a copy of the cockpit that he sits in, which is fixed with seatbelts and a steering wheel. He's working against weights on the steering during a session. The training we are doing is very tough, but it is necessary, so he does it. The importance of being fit in an F1 car is crucial, as any driver will tell you. Teams do not want to lose out due to human error.”

He added: “But you can't compare f1 with other sports. For a racing driver, it is not necessary that he's a quick runner. And if you look at runners, there are sprinters, 800m runners, and marathon runners. Look at skiers. There's slalom, Super G or downhill. You can't compare one with the other. Every one is a special discipline. Drivers to normal aerobic exercises, but also they should do specific training on the neck and so on. In two weeks we have four training days of about six hours each. Jacques does gym work, running and cycling. There are all good for cardiovascular performance. I would say everything helps a little bit, but it's necessary to do specific work as well.”

I believe I created the perfect simulator last night. It may not be as flashy as JV's, with all the bells and whistles and what not. But mine is a hell of a lot cheaper and quicker to round up.

You will need the following components:

1. Racing Sim (I recommend a PS2 and GT3).
2. A recliner.
3. A helmet.
4. A box fan.
5. 2 friends.

It's simple. Have one friend sit in front of you with the box fan. Of course, make sure he doesnt block the screen. He is in charge of the "wind". Most fans have 3 or 4 speeds, and it is his job to adjust the speed of the fan according to your speed. If you are in the straights, then crank that mother to full blast. Hairpins and pits only need level 1. Anything in between is left to your discretion.

Your other friend is in charge of the "cockpit". He needs to have a little bit of meat on him, as he will be doing a small amount of work. He sits directly to your right or left facing your recliner, or cockpit. All he needs to do is push and pull the chair in the direction the car is turning.

And that's it! You have all the major elements right there. You no longer need to worry about traveling long distances to reach the circuits, or bother with those pesky superlicenses. You can bring all the excitement and fun of Formula 1 racing right to your living room.

here's a better idea:

give the guy on the fan, the "wind" man, a big bowl of baked beans to eat a couple hours before the simulation......as for the "cockpit" man with the meat, well, I'll leave that one alone.....

I dont beleive he actually *drives* Schumacher used to have one of these through technogym, but it was just the weight part of it. So like JV sits there and pounds the pedals and turns the wheel. Im not sure if he follows a video or what. if I had one id try to get it hooked up to a video game so at least the movements were more natural

You should also have the guy in charge of the wind throw a few bugs at you along the straights, and when you crash, they guy on the side breaks your neck with a sledge hammer.

But lets be honest, if you were to design a real JV simulator, it would go something like this:

It comes with overalls 2 sizes too big for you, and some stuff you rub on your face to make your beard grow. You are NOT allowed to shave. Ever.
You then get offered 2 drives: One with a proven race winner, where life will be tough, but you will have a genuine opportunity to become wdc again.
And a second one, where the money is double that of the first offer, but you have no chance of enjoying yourself in the car ever again.

If you take the first offer, you lose. If you accept the second offer, you get insulted for the rest of your career, but you get tonnes of money, and no-one expects you to perform. Except Danni.

The end.
