I'll give him a call.
Iceland's most remarkable racing driver though is one Omar Ragnarsson:
Multiple National Rally Champion.
Iceland's most popular TV personality.
Iceland's best known pilot, lands regularly ontop of small mountains.
Seen any tv footage of volcanic eruptions in Iceland? Probably shot by him.
Iceland's first stand up comic.
Wrote 2-3 major pop music hits.
Novelist.
Father of 5-6 children.
It goes without saying that we are a small country.

I sort of figured that Competition Press/Autoweek might have gotten that wrong, thanks for to correct spelling Rob and confirmation Karl.
Karl,
Thanks for the information

I too am curious about what happened with his career from 1967 on. His driving certainly impressed the writer from Competition Press/Autoweek...even if he couldn't get his name spelled correctly!.

I knew when I posted this that I could only be proven wrongIceland's most remarkable racing driver though is one Omar Ragnarsson:

About our friend Sverrir I have no particular questions. Just how did he get into racing, how hard was it for someone coming from Iceland in the sixties to get into big time racing on the continent, how come he seam to have dissapear from the racing scene (no injury I hope). Plus if he has a "racing CV" on hand that would be great ! Thanks again for your offer karlth !

I cama across your article about what became of me. I am still alive and kicking living in iceland and following up on motorracing. I am in the aviation buisness and work some specified jobs for my old friend Frank Williams. I still have some good contacts with Alan mann and Mario Andretti who are good personal friends of mine. I saw that you had seen reports in Autoweek in 1966 of my races in Italy at Monza And Enna. I would much appriciate if you could fax me a coppy of this ofr my memories.
Yours faithfully,
Sverrir Thoroddsson

I remember you and your new problematic BT30 at Pergusa. I seem to remember it was red.

Did you have some F. 2 tests (team Frank Williams?) at the end of 1967 season, or I simply do not remember well?
Nice to meet you!

As he says himself above, he is on the aviation business. And if you google his address you'll find a nice Porsche and a Mercedes in his front yard.

As the thread is so old, I confess I didn't read anymore than Sverrir's post to confirm his email.
