I've heard that this game was supposed to have been available in the States this month (September). Does anyone know if it's actually out? Thanks in advance.

The release was scheduled for the 25th of this month but has been bumped to the first week of October :(

The other guy is talking about the Sony Europe game F1 2001, it's easy to get them confused :)

IMO, you should rather go for the Sony game. It's graphics and gameplay are superior to the EA Sports one and playing it with a Fanatec Speedster 2 wheel is a pure delight. In addition, you receive a 2nd DVD with a last season review and multiple angle selection. :smoking:

The new EA game isn't even out, how can you decide what's best? I've heard a lot of criticism toward the Sony game.......

I know this is going to be a bitch to stomach... but many formula one games come out in the relatively insignificant (for f1 games) US market long after countries like the uk, oz, nz etc get them.

Yeah I'm well aware of that, F1RC still hasn't been released here in the States. Here is a good one, what are the odds that this dumb ass American actually knows what he's talking about?

hey you are the one who started the mocking tone to this thread... I was merely continuing your theme of, I assumed, lighthearted joking.

Did you in fact realise that jforce reasonably actually DOES have the game when you mocked him or di dyou not?

Im sure most american gamers are well aware of these unfortunate delays, just as the rest of us are aware of the reverse delays we often get to put up with.

JForce is a big boy, I asked him if he was special; a website writer or magazine writer? You felt the need to interject and "explain" the way things work to me. So, I guess it's up to him to let me know he does have this unreleased game, not you. Thanks for your concern.

P.S. This thread will probably be deleted now since I'm posting in it and don't agree with you.........

Thanx.

oh for christs sake punisher

suggesting that your posts would get deleted for disagreeing with me (something that has never happened to a post in the hstory of this board) is insulting to williams and the other moderators, who work hard for your and my pleasure and who edit my posts as often as any.

there was zero malice or nationalism involved in my post, it was a flippant reply to your post. Any unpleasantness you find here was brought in by yourself Im afraid.

OK, as an EASports employee, I will clarify the following:-

The Sony game (Formula 1 2001) came out in Europe earlier this year, May I think. First batch of copies came out with the DVD. No longer the case.

The Sony game will be released in North America at some point. I've heard November before now.

F1-2001 will be released on PC and PS2 only on the 5th October in Europe and North America. Japan will launch PS2 earlier (not sure about PC).

An X-Box version is being developed.

There are a number of licences that exist. Sony have to use "Formula 1", EA "F1"

Check out www.f1gamers.com for lots of reviews of all f1 products and discussion forums etc and is not biased.

As mentioned, screenshot, specs etc are at www.easportsf1.com

Ok, lets get this straight. i am special, but thats got nothing to do with it. I did win my copy of the game, but it had already been released here. All I know is that I've got an F1 game thats called Formula1 2001, and when you load it up, it comes up with the logo and says "EA sports, it's in the game". That would suggest to me that it is an EA game. Now, you may be right, and it maybe something to do with the licensing issues. I agree with Daz though, its good, but GT3 is far superior as far as gameplay goes. In GT3 the F1 cars actually stick to the road. In F12001, the cars feel worse than road cars. Graphics are mint though.

As far as I know, they will be releasing a PS1 version.
