I found this article while looking for world perspective. I ran it thru Babelfish. It never seems to work. Seems Bin Ladan was part of the Saudi / Williams sponsorship from '79 to '81.

It says that the owner of Abilad was Mohammed Bin Laden, the father of Osama bin Laden. It doesn't say if the son had anything to do with the team...

Anyway, there seem to be lots of links between Bin Laden and various organisations with which he's been involved in the past and which have trained his men...

The Bin Laden family is huge and wealthy, with an innumerable amount of investments and connections. By all accounts, Ousama is the black sheep/outcast of the family, and only keeps in touch with 1 or 2 of his brothers.

Word on the street is that Osama's brothers are still funneling millions and millions of dollars to him, which of course makes them the enemy in the mind of the U.S. government. If Williams was sponsored by the Bin Laden family, then they too are the enemy. I fully expect Frank and the Head to be arrested immediately upon arrival to the U.S. and tossed in jail. These maniacs must be stopped!

Wasn't Bin Laden's son/brother studying in the US somewhere. Can't remember where - somewhere in the north-east I think...

/me runs downstairs to look at newspaper...

Ah, here we are. His name is Faisal Bin Laden and he's the son of one of Osama Bin Laden's 27 (yes, 27) brothers. He was studying at the University of New Hampshire and says he was appalled by the attacks and hopes to return to NH soon...

The Bin Laden family is huge. Osama Bin Laden has 24 kids and four wives (reminds me of that guy in Utah ;)) along with his 27 brothers.

Can't get over that... 27 brothers, 4 wives and 24 kids...

Wow!! sensational!!
20yrs ago Osama's (sp) family sponsored Williams.
Osama started his terrorist activities since '92
Osama has been outcasted by many of his family because of
his extreme views.

Looks to me you still have a lot of catching up to do to gain
some "world perspective" view:rolleyes:

Hold on, does if the Bin Ladin bros. are enemies of the US government for sending millions to Osama, does that mean George Sr is now an enemy of his son?

the Bin Laden family are part of the Saudi ruling class establishment. Osamu has rejected this and this is part of his hate for the US, which supports the Saudi ruling class. Basically, Osamu has rejected everything which his family stands for. Nevertheless with such a large family, and given family loyalty, it's not surprising if a couple brothers help him financially.

Yes he is and should be punished of sending weapons/money/training to terrorists including Bin Laden during the cold war.

So at the start they should arrest...

The whole Bin Laden family
All associates of Bin Laden family
Frank Williams and his team
All those who have supported Williams (for supporting team that has supported family of a terrorist who has been supported by his family supported by their associates)
The US government members etc from the period of cold war

etc

Eddie Irvine already knows all this and is planning to take out the two Williams at the next race in his quest to end the world recession ;)

Doesn't the bin Laden family contains of more than 20 children (someone has been busy ;)) ... ? The connections are huge so not everything that is called bin Laden is a terrorist. Only the crazy idiot that is hiding in caves in Afghanistan.

Is Ferrari guilty of ecological accidents of Shell?

Oh, and let's not forget the lawsuits against tobacco company - let's put all f-1 at trial.

Drinking and driving is a crime, to, right? From what I remember:
- Labatts beer and Willians
- Vodka Stoli and jordan
- Kronembier and Arrows (I think)

Well I guess people here are merely joking since Bin Laden family (with the exception of Osama) is very respected and they are known as businessmen having nothing to do with terrorism...

Did anyone know Bin Laden sponsored Formula 1? I've just found an article about the (or a) Bin Laden company sponsoring the Williams F1 team from 1978 till 1981 (see pic, next to startnumber 27).
