Okay, I'm ready...I think.

I just bought a computer on Monday, nd I hope these specs are enough for this game to run. I especially hope I have a good video card.

P4 1.5 Ghz
128Megs RAM
Maxtor 7200 rmp 20 Ghz hard drive
NVidia GForce 2 64Mhz, 200Mhz processor
Windows XP
(Jury still out on this one. Computer loads in like 5 seconds, seems stable and user friendly...might go back to ME or 98 if I do no tlike)

do I have the requirements?

I just need Internet access up in my room. Need Ethernet HUB and about 55 feet of cable....

Great machine Jhope:up:  . That one will do more than fine. The only thing I would change is adding another 128MB of RAM. Or even better 256MB. RAM is still pretty cheap so I would do it.

Try to take the same brand as you have now Jhope. That's often better and u won't get strange errors and BSOD's.

Agree. Stick more RAM in it. Otherwise this will be the bottleneck in a great PC ! :)

Another thing, get a 10/100 ethernet switch (linksys or dlink or GVC) not a hub, you'll be much happier! :)

Why? I'm a lazy bastard (and insensitive apparently) so here's a link and some text as to why you want a switch:

stolen from: http://www.computing...forum/3021.html

... Anyway switches are faster than hubs because there are no packet collision and excessive broadcasting is not needed since the switch learns the mac addresses for each machine and keeps track of which port they are on sending the data only to the node needed also its a switch and works in some ways just like any switch an example would be lets say you have 400K and a for port hub with four machines running all out thats 100K a peace or 400K for one or 200K for one and 150 for another and 25 for the other two what a messs huh? Now with a switch it is 400K for each of the four machines. Hows this you ask? Well its switches the connections think of it like a an ignition router cap for a four cylinder auto. Where as a hub is like one of those multi-plug outlets that let you get 3 plugins from one outlet but you still only have 125V and 30A to DIVIDE between the three objects. So in conclusion we learn that switches are good hubs are bad switches know where your machines are connected hubs have to ask each time they need to send a packet. Hubs divide switches unite.

Despite Mr Guy being wrong with the electrical analogy (each of the three plugins you have would have 125V 'to it') he's pretty much spot on about the switches.

Here's a better example of hub vs switch:

JHope,
I'd be interested in how you get on with XP.
I have a 1.7 Ghz P4, and although games (ahem, sorry sims ;) )run plenty quick, the general windows performance is no better (and sometimes worse) than my old P200...
I have a feeling that this is not unrelated to running ME, but I'm a long way from being expert on the matter.
Thoughts appreciated.
