For two races only.
They change the car decoration and the sponsor.
Someone know that?

For the next race, the cars were back to normal.
Interestingly, you could say the cars were drastically different as a result of this mod - and FISA allowed it - unlike in the FIA in 1999 when BAR tried to run a 555 and Lucky Strike car. That said, the Macs were still recognizable as the same car, unlike if BAR had got their wish I guess...

McLaren used a Löwenbräu livery for both their cars in these two races. Here is James Hunt at Montreal, and here are John Watson and Patrick Tambay at Long Beach one year later.
The ultra-Bavarian beer brewery of Löwenbräu ('Ein Bier wie Bayern') part of Philip Morris? Enlighten me...

Miller Brewing is a part of PM and had a distributorship deal with the Lion's Brew folks for the US of A. I am not sure of any relationship beyond that, but I do remember that Miller did act as the Löwenbräu distributor at one point.

I actually really liked the Orange scheme McLaren used to unveil the car, before announcing the West sponsorship.
