Does anyone know where I can find some GOOD pictures of the 98-99 Mclaren Mika steering wheel? It had the 'butterfly' shape to it.

Kind of like http://www.americanl.../8lvms/p035.jpg

but more "styled"

Ive seen pictures of at speed shots, and parc ferme when the wheel is upside down resting on the nose, but im looking for a really nice up close shot to see the shape of the wheel and how it comes together. Thanks

Sorry RS, don't have that. Got a great one of Ferrari in 98 tho, full screen, etc.

I'd like to see any good shots of steering wheels from this year or last. Anyone?

The little sign with the arrow stands for 'Exit cockpit in this direction'. :)

Ross,

I've been looking for one without the bottom 'loop' as a believe that this is Coulthards car, but have not found anything yet.

I will keep you posted.

I also just noticed that this is the 1997 car (Goodyear tires) and will look for 98-99 pics.

Wow...awesome :) Mika had the looped steering wheel in 97 as I recall. Where did you get these pics? The 98-99 Version had the bottom curve cut off, and the "spoke" where the thumb would rest just to the right of the 2 verticle buttons. Thanks

Ross,

The first two pics came from www.f1m.com
It is a site dedicated to Formula 1 model building. He has a good refrencr library of nitty gritty under the skin pics, but these were the only two that I found of the Mac steering wheel.

Here are a couple of the '99 car but not as explicit:

These are from my own references. I think that it is safe to assume that the construction is the same as '97 but without the lower 'loop'.

In contrast here is the '98 Ferrari wheel. Very different designs...

As you can see, Coulthards car retains the lower loop. I still cannot find a good one of the 'butterfly' shape.

Does Schu really need a map of the Hungaroring? He's won races and been on pole there, surely he knows his way round by now!

I guess that the map is for sector times and not directions BH :)

So, he has buttons for:

N - Nitrous Oxide
L - Laser
S - Oil slick
Radio - tune in Edge 102, Toronto's New Rock

Lately I believe there has been liberal use of the "S"(smokescreen) button in the Mclaren camp ;)

I once had a diagram showing what all the buttons and nobs were for on the Ferrari, but I don't know where now.

I must look.....I must......

Anyway, the buttons are actually labeled in Italian ('radio' of course spelt the same way in Italian and English but pronounced differently).

I remember one knob was for fuel mixture (rich to lean) but my memory fades on the rest.
