I first saw it on the back of one part of a British-produced encyclopaedia of motoring called 'On Four Wheels' way back in about 1975.
Several people have alerted me to it since then in various different places.
I suspect the true copyright belongs to someone other than Attualfoto; still it is a very nice view, showing off the aerodynamics of the car quite well. I have always thought that it was probably one of the slipperiest cars racing that year.
Note the little aluminium extension to the radiator air extractor vents - required in Austria because it was SO HOT!

What exactly was 'Capricorn'?

I believe they were eventually absorbed into the Ross group of companies. Personally, I never met anyone connected with the company and the finance they 'injected' into the team was enough to cover the cost of painting their name and logos on the car! Or so the story goes.

Being in the Sparkford area today, I paid my first-ever visit to the Haynes Museum. That DFV looks awful lonely sitting in the corner. Although it doesn't look as sad as Lola T370/HU4, which is badly in need of some TLC.Originally posted by David Beard

Never seen that before
It's available to buy for a whopping £2.00 from http://www.simonlewis.com/
Plus this!
CONNEW CHEVROLET F5000 Trimmer at speed 1974 Brands f5000 smoking badly 6x4 col pro £2.00
I feel like buying them £4 for two 6x4 images is pretty good, I'd say.
There's also a picture of the Connew signed by Migault on eBay right now:

But it seems also to show some severe torsional rigidity problems. Or am I wrong?

but that bloke behind the car doesn't appear to be wearing shorts, so I think he may be an imposter......................

The engine is a dummy, as is the gearbox and there are various other artificial bits to connect things together, but it was pushable, so this is where we pushed it in order to find sufficient light to take the 'historic' photo.
I may have posted this on another thread, years ago, but for newcomers, it might be something they haven't seen.

Adam handed me a small pile of Connew-related memorabilia to look at.
Amongst the sheets of paper was a letter written on Connew team paper, by me, to Adam (who presumably was a very young man at the time) dated 19th September 1972! What a small world we live in.
Another item in Adam's collection is this picture....
...which has me baffled because I cannot remember it being taken or indeed, ever having seen it before. I have asked Mr. C himself to see if he can place it.
I must say I think the car looked far better without the yellow....

Barry...that car looks great... and so clean.

BUT, it has no innards in the engine or gearbox, no dampers, no oil tank, no mirrors, no battery, no fire extinguisher..... and if my memory doesn't fail me, no money either!

The drawing is very good. Interestingly, the aluminium rear suspension top cross member shown was a very early one and was replaced by a more conventional system quite early in the car's life.
Here is a view of that early cross member, looking at the the underside of it, with its bottom surface removed.
It was beautifully constructed, mainly by Peter IIRC, but he decided to replace it with steel tubing in the end.
Barry...To me as a draftsman...this is a very complex construction. And if I just knew the dimentions...I´d love to draw it. In both 2D and 3D.

Would that heve been the Friday, Barry?

The race was Saturday and we only practised on the first day.
All Friday was spent rebuilding the rear corners where the springs had let us down (literally!) and Friday night too.
What happened on Saturday morning is part of the whole sorry saga!

Ah, ok. I still forget when the Brands and Silverstone races were held - except for the fact that one was Saturday, and the other Sunday!Originally posted by Barry Boor
No, Twinny, it must have been Thursday.
Clearly I got it backwards. Again...

It's not a new picture. It first appeared in Motoring News in 1972 and I think Francois is just turning into Paddock, not Druids. I guess it comes from their archives, or indeed, whoever now owns them.
We still cannot explain why the airbox is missing.
I cannot think that there can be objections to this picture being shown - it is in thousands of Motoring News gathering dust in attics around Britain.
If anyone objects, I'll scrap it.
