Appologies if this has been discussed before. I haven't followed this side of the forum until recently.
In Grand Prix 3, the manual lists the 1998 Williams team drivers as #2 Frentzen and #1 John Newhouse(?) In the photo (page 119), it appears that the helmut design is Senna's(?)
Was there some kind of contractual thing with Jaqcues Villeneuve?
Just curious.

GP3 question: Who is John Newhouse?

The name John Newhouse, I'm guessing is supposed to be a play on Jacques Villeneuve. Routhly translating the name from french to english, you would get John NewCity (NewTown). I can't seem to recall where, but I think I may have read somewhere that JV has sued over someone using Newtown when referring to him, but I may be wrong. I'm guessing that's why they changed it to Newhouse. I don't guarantee this is right, but it could be.
Cheers.

The driver in question is there in place of Jacques Villeneuve, although I'm not sure of the reason why. I think it might be because of some clause that MicroProse and everyone else that based their data on the 1997 or 1998 season (where he was refered as "Williams #1") had to put up with, where they weren't allowed to use Villeneuve's name.
As I say, I'm not entirely sure if that is the reason, or if it is, why.

Villeneuve is (was?) not a member of GPDA (Grand Prix Drivers Association) and because of that companies were not allowed to use the name Villeneuve.

yes thats right - John Newhouse is a not-so-accurate translation of Jacques Villeneuve. JV doesn't sign any contract that doesn't allow him to ski so no JV in GP3 - also the GPDA thing is true.
