Or slightly new, at least... Gemini started a similar competition a few days ago, and if you want to join that one too, simply post your guesses in his thread , and I'll pick them up from there!

What are you supposed to do in my competition then? Quite simple: Guess the pole position time for each GP! Added to that, you should also guess for the driver who takes the pole position. Only one guess is allowed per participant and race.

Points scoring:

The best six guessers (closest to the actual pole position time) score points F1 style, 10-6-4-3-2-1.

Precision bonus gives points to every participant whose guess was one second or less away from the actual pole position time according to this list:

0.000 - 0.020 seconds off: 10 points
0.021 - 0.050 seconds off: 6 points
0.051 - 0.100 seconds off: 4 points
0.101 - 0.200 seconds off: 3 points
0.201 - 0.500 seconds off: 2 points
0.501 - 1.000 seconds off: 1 points

Driver bonus is two points for correctly guessing the driver to take pole position.

So the total maximum points in one race is 10+10+2 = 22 points for one participant.
The participant with the highest total points score at the end of the season is The Champion...

Not too tricky, eh? A time and a name, that's all. And take the chance to participate in Gemini's thread, you can win prizes there! Those of you who already have posted there might want to add a driver's name, although that isn't absolutely necessary. Good luck!

I think you are going to find a lot of people not falling within the 1 second braket that you allow for.

Perhaps that is the case, at least the first few races, but the idea isn't that you should get points for ANY guess. Even I have some quality demands :)

I sure am, gerry. It will even come with an added optional feature this year: Rate the race, a voting on how good the race itself was. The idea for this one also came from MrA, whose baby the Voting Championship initially was. I'm just a foster parent :)

Great!!! Im not sure if you remember but at the end of last season I posted a thread asking about the best races and drivers and gave points. We should have compared both of our results - as yours is done "live" after each race while mine is done in hindsight with other races affecting (clouding) our judgement! We should do it this year!! :)

Gemini, the deadline will typically be around midnight before first free practice, CET. Since I probably stay awake for first free in Melbourne, the deadline can be a bit later for this round I guess. Though I would like to have maybe half an hour's margin to first free anyway, just in case.
